I don't think there was a musician on the first episode, at least not as a guest star. The only guest was Carol Burnett - if you blinked, you missed her.

You don't mean, who were the musicians who wrote the songs and background music for the show, do you?

Well, I am not sure. I am trying to answer a trivia question. Now this is confusing. Are any of the regular cast or possibly a puppet a musician on the first episode? Maybe this is a trick question. Thannks so much for trying to help. I have been searching the web for hours! Amy

Well, I've seen the first episode many, many times, and I can assure you that no musician APPEARED on that particular episode. Not a FAMOUS one at least.

The ONLY one I can think of is this:

Actress and sometime-singer Holly Robinson-Peete played 6 year old Sally, who was featured as Gordon's friend in the premiere episode. That's the most logical answer for you, since Ms. Robinson is a singer (sang the 21 Jump Street theme) and is often a trivia answer in regards to Sesame's 1st episode.

Of course, Grace Slick of Jefferson Airplane sang the counting song with the Spies and Racecars ("2"), but she was just heard, not seen.

Also, there's a "Milk" segment that features a folksy guitar soloist (probably not famous) on the soundtrack.

That's it.

Thank you so much!! You don't happen to know what the guitarist name is do you? That may be the answer. I have written down the other names also. I can't believe you know so much. this is fantastic! Greatly appreciated. Amy

Was Bob McGrath on the first episode? I just found a site that said he played with Bruce Springsteen.
