I'll have to check that out. Thank you! I love futuristic books like that.

It's more about the control of people's knowlege through the banning of books.

You could also try The Giver, but I found that book kinda boring.

Also, if you like short story collections, The Illustrated Man has a few futuristic stories. Not so much distopia, but pretty bad futures.

Yeah, I read The Giver a few years back. Interesting story, but pretty dull throughout. I had heard about The Illustrated Man. Ray Bradbury, right? Thanks for your suggestions!

Also, if you like dystopian stories, try "We" by Zamyatin, inspired by the author's experience in the Russian Revolution. "Brave New World" is always good. And since you're a Rush fan, I assume you've read Rand's "Anthem"? (Not her best work, but a quick read.)

China Mieville's otherworldly series, starting with "Perdido Street Station," is scarygood and amazingly written. Gore Vidal's "Messiah" is chilling. And "The Handmaid's Tale" is truly frightening if you know some of the people who really DO think that way.

Jasper Fforde's "Shades of Grey" (no, it has NOTHING to do with THAT crap and was published before all that fanpopporn nonsense), while dystopian in a more comic vein, is extremely well thought-out and has me guessing and trying to keep up with his bizarre color-schemed, striated and segmented world. Good stuff.

Oh! and you MUST see "Brazil." The ending is not for the fainthearted.

I haven't read Anthem. I will have to, thank you! I've got like 10 more books to add to my list!

(That's funny, I was listening to Anthem as I read your post!)

Today, the seemingly contrary posts about love from my twittercrush has me puzzled and wondering if I was the target of either the cynical or the romantic post. This guy seems to enjoy his enigma status, and runs if I edge too close. Can't tell yet if this is about his past hurts or just a game. If game, I'm outta there...

sigh. *Inigo Montoya voice* I HATE waiting...

I've been thinking a lot about joining Twitter but I have no idea what it's like. Can anyone enlighten me?

Basically. Except that you can post pictures now, too, apparently. (Which makes me wonder why there's Instagram...?)
