I remember I once had a small pack of off-brand scented markers that had more obscure scents like kiwi, bubblegum, and even buttered popcorn.

Mr. Sketch markers? I loved those! My favorite scents were always cherry, blueberry, raspberry, and cinnamon. The licorice one was nasty smelling, though. ICK!
If memory serves me well, here was the color/flavor chart:
Red-cherry
Yellow-lemon
Blue-blueberry
Green-lime
Purple-grape
Brown-root beer
Black-licorice
and brace yourself...
Orange-orange.

I guess to wean us off our sniffing fix, next was clay.
THAT was nasty. Fun and dirty, but not fun to smell.
