What if Elmo, Abby Cadabby and Zoe were introduced during the first five seasons?

Exactly what it says on the tin. How different would Sesame Street have gone if these well-known, but more "modern", characters had been around since the early days and were not associated with the "modern" Sesame Street?
Note: They WOULD be main characters, but NOT to the degree of Big Bird, Oscar, Cookie or B&E. They'd be more Grover/Count-tier characters.
And here's a rule: You can NOT say that they'd push the other characters to the background even earlier than OTL. No no no.
I can't think of much, except for my ideas for performers for Elmo and Abby (Zoe would obviously be the same as OTL):
Elmo: Carroll Spinney (due to the error he made in that one book)
Abby: Jerry Nelson (out of all the female voices by male Muppeteers, i think Jerry's would suit Abby best)
And i think Abby would have had normal Muppet pupils. Doubt Jim would have allowed her OTL design.

If you want the truth, I can see all 3 of those characters having more of an "edge" to them has they been introduced in the early seasons
