Exactly what it says on the tin. How different would Sesame Street have gone if these well-known, but more "modern", characters had been around since the early days and were not associated with the "modern" Sesame Street?
Note: They WOULD be main characters, but NOT to the degree of Big Bird, Oscar, Cookie or B&E. They'd be more Grover/Count-tier characters.
And here's a rule: You can NOT say that they'd push the other characters to the background even earlier than OTL. No no no.
I can't think of much, except for my ideas for performers for Elmo and Abby (Zoe would obviously be the same as OTL):
Elmo: Carroll Spinney (due to the error he made in that one book)
Abby: Jerry Nelson (out of all the female voices by male Muppeteers, i think Jerry's would suit Abby best)
And i think Abby would have had normal Muppet pupils. Doubt Jim would have allowed her OTL design.
