Of course it had a Disney style. Disney made it. :stick_out_tongue:

I kind of grew up in the post Henson era, but I saw the first 3 movies before the other 3 and I still like the movie. 1996 isn't too soonish especially since in 1992, or around there, we got MCC, another good movie. To say Jim Hawkins was lame is a bit harsh. You're insulting a kid! Tim Curry did a fantastic job in the movie, he stole the show. I think that movie is put under a microscope too much. Just let it be the movie that it is. It's the retelling of a classic novel and I think it was done well. At least it had original music. MFS had no music except for that Alien scene at the end and even that was more lame than anything in MTI. Both are good movie, but MTI out shines MFS with production quality alone.

I'd like to see a movie were the aspects of both movies come together. Give the muppets original music again, and put them in the real world. That's what they need right now.

I agree MTI is much better than MFS... in my opinion anyway.

out ofthe six muppet films I own it's the one i put into my DVD player the most

I'm actually scared to say this but i think MTI falls into the top three in my favorite muppet movie's list (right after TMM & TGMC) actually fourth i prefer TMTM to it.

Anyway apart from the fact that the sculpts are based on the movie i think they'd make really cool and different variants.

I definatley want the whole MTI cast in Action Figure form

What other Bunsen Variant could we really get

so i say bring on  :embarrassed: :concern:  Bunsen, Sam, Beaker & Rizzo (i can't fit them all in smilie form and besides there's none for Rizzo) In their MTI costumes

I'm also in favour of The Electic Mayhem in their MTI costumes (they looked cool) as well as Link Hogthrob with that Metal gold thing... but that might be pushing it slightly

Pes, you won't find my massive Muppet figures table here at Muppet Central because it was never posted here due to its "No Attachments" rule. However, GLUE did format it a little so as to eliminate any blank fields and posted under the thread heading "Possible Future Muppets Line Up" over at the Palisades forum. It'll take a little bit of digging, but it's there. If you can't access the Palisades forum, then drop me a message via my E-mail with "Muppets Table" in the subject heading and I'll forward you a copy of the original table.
Hope this helps and have a good weekend.

Yeah Disney making it was half the problem ! :stick_out_tongue:

I dunno - i just find that most kids born during the mid-late 80's love MTI and most hardcore Muppet fans who were born earlier do not, and they're in the vast majority. Filling the line up with MTI variants will be a total mistake because there are so many other different Muppet characters still to do - and only so much space in the line. I think the beauty of the Muppets is also that they have such a vast community of characters like the Simpsons - it'd be a shame not to exploit that. I think the action figures themed around the movie licenses should be shared equally around the movies (other than MCC probably) because they were all great to an extent. It disapoints me a little we've not seen anything from the original 3 movies yet but it seems a lot of MTI is in the works. MTI did have better production quality but as i said, with MFS the actual characters of the Muppets were portrayed better, something that was difficult to do with retelling stories like Treasure Island and Christmas Carol. I think it is partly to blame for the actual personality of various Muppet characters being less well known to younger people now even though they can recognise them visually. I'm not a big fan of the Diz movies.

I think we've gotten figures from other movies up into series 6. There are 3 MFS figures. I count Tux Kermit as a GMC variant from the "Steppin' Out with a Star" song. TMM Gonzo will be a PVC, and maybe a figure. And News Reporter Kermit is about as close we will get to a GMC Kermit. Besides Piggy and the Electric Mayhem, though, the other characters are the same in each movie. That is except for the Disney Movies. Every series needs a main character to boost sales. Since you can't just redo Kermit every time, you need some way to do a different version of characters that always look the same. MTI ives Palisades the ability to put in a character they need to boost the series as well as keeping the line from being repetitive.

There are still 8 series after series 6. thats 5 figures a series, the fifth being the new retail exclusive, leaving 40 spots left. Not to mention playsets with figures. I think we will eventually see Pizza Twins, Plumber Gonzo, and GMC Gonzo as well as a few more. I think it's a good mix and the MTI Sam is spectacular. I really think you'll be missing out.

BTW, sculpt usually wins out over popularity when it comes to regular people that buy the figures. So, I think Sam will sell well.

Yeah i like Sam a lot, i think he'll sell - just don't particularly want an army of the MTI characters, just a few at most.

These figures are generally branded (or at least will be) to certain shows or movies, the logo will be on the front of the blisters. Officially we have nothing at all from the first 3 movies in action figure form and afaik, none have yet been announced. Palisades didn't have the movie license before and Tux Kermit was never talked about as being from a film, Newsman Kermit (coming with the Koozebanians) is more Sesame than GMC. Yes we've got Muppets From Space figures coming out but it is the 3 original movies that are considered the 'classics' and i thought Palisades was targetting these people with the obscure TMS characters so it puzzles me a bit.

There certainly are variations from the original movies - Afro Kermit has been rejected so it seems, Biker Piggy, Banjo Kermit, Waiter Rizzo, Prince Of Plungers Gonzo etc etc. Maybe not as many as the later films but i'd like to see some down the road. Maybe it's a bit similar to the Chef's Kitchen but a Petes Diner playset would look good sometime - maybe if you used a lever and pulley system the rats could move around in the Kitchen and the figures could sit at the tables.

While I am not a fan of MTI in particular -
I do like the Samuel Arrow figure. It just seems to fit the 'personality' of the character. Also, when they are using the movie licenses, Palisades should (IMHO) try to stick with memorable characters and scenarios. A tactic they are using with the Minis - Everyone remembers Gonzo with the Balloons from TMM. Also Piggy on the Motorcyle is a pretty vivid image in TGMC.

I hope they will do more with the movie license than just a bunch of MTI figures, time will tell.

The problem with the first three mvoies is that the on;y character which can have really intresting variants is Piggy and people seem to tire of her.

Although their are more cooler variants in the first three movie's put together than in the last three.

I would like to get atleast one variant from each movie.

MTI has 8 possibilities + Clueless Morgan, PL & MM

MCC has one that really interest's me, Turkey Boy Bean Bunny, Statler & Waldorf really intrest me to but their coming in PVC form, i'd kind of like a Charles dickens Gonzo with Rizzo but i kibd of see the MCC versions coming out in PVC form.

MFS, we're already getting Pepe & Rizzo & Invis Fozzie, i don't really see any other use they can make of this apart from maybe tin foil Gonzo (which i wouldn't personally consider a good variant choice)

then there's the other three:

TMM- Bougen country fair Piggy, a new regular Kermit rescult with a light skin colour, bicycle, banjo & possibly Robin, King of Plunger Gonzo and that's it really unless they make some Piggy & Kermit variants from Piggy's fantasy.

TGMC- Pizza Twin's Kermit & Fozzie, a reporter Kermit would have been good here but we're already getting his as a TMS variant. Swim Suit Piggy and maybe Pops could be themed after TGMC instead of TMS.

TMTM- Manhattan Melodies (Kermit, Piggy, Fozzie, Gonzo, Camilla, Rowlf, Scooter, Dr. Teeth, Janice, Floyd, Zoot & Animal) Wedding dress Piggy, new tuxedo Kermit, Afro Kermit (which is a no go)Waiter Rizzo and maybe under cover Piggy.

i've forgotton the point of this list but never mind, i'm to tired to read back

There are many variants you can get out of MTM and I would like to see some in action figure form. For example, the entire Electric Mayhem in their MTM outfits. But, I still say something like this is best done as a gift set. I think the Manhattan Melodies outfits should also be done in sets of 3. It's just better that way when you have them all in basically the same outfit.

Pizza Twins is a must and Maybe the Swim suit Piggy with the newly painted hair. That would be cool from that movie. Also, a photographer Gonzo would be good since he can go with News Reporter Kermit, even if that Kermit isn't the same one from the movie they would still make a good pairing. If the GMC figures were done as sets, I would like to see Fozzie with a new hat and a news paper.

I wouldn't want to see any Piggy from TMM because even the Ms. Bougen County Piggy would basically be the same as a regualr or even the Swim Suit Piggy. Plumber Gonzo is in PVC form, but an action figure would be nice, and Kermt needs a banjo!
