We all have effectionate names we have for our relatives. Here are some of mine...

  • Mother: When I was a little guy, naturally I called her "mommy". These days, I usually call her either mom or mama.
  • Father: I pretty much called him "daddy" all my life (see how much of a Southern I am? ) but in recent years, I tend to call him dad more. Occasionally daddy-o.
  • Grandmothers: My mom's mom is the grandmother I know and love, so she's the one I call "nana". I also HAD another grandmother because my mom's dad had later remarried, and I called her "granny".
  • Grandfather: I call him "papaw". (My niece calls my dad that too).
  • Aunt: I simply call her by her first name. No one in the family minds anyway.
  • Uncle: Same, I call him by his first name too.
  • Cousin: I call him by his name too, but ocassionally, I give him the "cuz".
  • Sister: "Sasquatch", because she calls me brat.
  • Brothers: I have three brothers, but I call two of them by their names, because I never met the other one. One of the two is actually a doctor (who ironically was the one who saw my broken toe), so I call him "doctor".
  • Nieces and Nephews: Their first names, except for one nephew who goes by his middle name.
  • Bunny: Tommie, Baby Tommie Bunny, Bunny, Poofy (cuz she's as fat as mud!), Grumpleforehead (cuz she's constantly grumpy), Varmint (well, that's what my dad calls her).

XD Oh my goodness, we're a lot alike, D'Snowth!

Mother: Momma. When I get angry, or ticked off at her, I call her "Mom!" Occasionally to get her attention I yell her real name out.
Father: He's always been "Daddy" to me.
Mom's Mother: Nanny. I couldn't say "Granny" when I was little, so I called her Nanny. And it's stuck.
Mom's Father: Grampa.
Mom's Step-Father: Paw-Paw. Sometimes I pronouce it "Pa-Pa".
Dad's Mother: Grandmother. She never liked me calling her anything else, she's kinda prim and proper, so Grandmother was what I call her.
Dad's Grandmother: Granny. I always miss her fried chicken and biscuits.
Dad's Father: Grandfather.
Cousins: Normally I don't know most of them, (I have over 100 cousins. X_X) They all have a habit of calling me "Kermit" however. The few I know, only one of them has a nickname. His real name is Kevin. He's 2 years older then me, and until I was 14 we always wrestled all the time. He usually won. He was always over-protective of me. I call him Kev usually. He calls me "Kermit", or "Kerm" and it's always stuck. So his mother, my Aunt Judy, she'll yell out of the house. "Hey Kev and Kerm! Come on in!"
Sisters/Brothers: None applicable. I'm an only child.
Dog: Her real name is Bridgette. I spell it Bridget, Mom spells it Bridgette. I call her "Wee Wee", "Bridgey-Boo-Boo", "Sweetums", "Snuggles", and "Snugglebutt".

I myself have a lot of nicknames actually.

Mom: "Sweetpea" "Sweetie" "Darling" (Rarely used) "Squirrely-Girl" (Because when I was a baby, I always moved a lot when I slept.)
Dad: "Turkeybutt" (He started calling me that about 7 years ago, I call him that when I get agitated. x_x He just likes to mess with me sometimes.) [Other then that name, he just calls me the same as Mom does, or uses my real name.]
Cousins: They all call me "Kermit" or "Kerm", and one calls me "Kermie-Baby". She's really infatuated with Grover. XD It all started when Kevin, at a family reunion he called me "Kermit" because I sounded kinda like him. I had a horrible cold, and was congested. XD

Sorry it's so long. XD It's kinda funny however.

Mother: Usually Mom. Or her first name.
Father: I always call him some stupid made up name, like monkey butt. He does the same with me. It's kind of a running joke.
Grandmothers: I just call her Gram.
Grandfather: I called him Pap.
Aunt: First name.
Uncle: Same.
Cousin: I call them all by their first names, except for the one I call "bass man" because he plays bass in a jazz group.

I don't have any other family. Aside from my Mom and Dad, I'm down to one Grandmother (I only ever knew one Grandfather) and a couple Aunts and Uncles. I do have a bunch of cousins, but I hardly see any of them.

Oh me too!

Mom: For some reason there was a point a few months ago where she got into this thing of calling "Little Neptune".
Dad: Usually "my son".
Nana: "Lil' Friend".
Aunt: When I was a little guy, she would call me "pretty boy". (But not in the insulting "watch it, Pretty Boy!" way)
Cousin: Sometimes he calls me one of the short, more common nicknames, for my real name.
Bunny: Big Dummy.

She may not talk, but I'm sure that's how she thinks of me.

Ooh, here's a question: How do you pronounce the word Aunt: do you pronounce it like the insect Ant, or with an o sound, like Ont (sounds like font without the f)? East coasters tend to say Ont more.

Here's one that'll boggle ya. Okay to answer the "Ant" "Ont" question...

I'm from Tennessee born and lived here 99% of my life....we say "Ant"

Montana and generally most of the northwest it's "Ont". So what do I say? Well it's more of whatever pops out of my mouth first.

Mother: Mom or Momma
Father: Dad or the occasional Daddy
Grandmother: On my Mom's side she was always "Grandma" my Dad's mother is always Meme
Grandfather: For all of them it always has been Papaw. On my Dad's side everyone calls him "Papaw Tom". The one exception was my great-grandfather who we called "KingKing"
Aunts and Uncles: usually Aunts and Uncles and then their name
Cousins: Usually by their name. Although one has recently dubbed himself as "Bubba"
Sisters: Wellllll depends on if I'm in a good mood or a bad mood.
Dogs: their real names are Panda Girl and Ellie Mae...but they get called "knothead" and "dipstick" an awful lot
Myself: Most people just call me Christy or Christyb.
