Thank you Rosewood, it was a lot of fun reminiscing about those baker falling down the stairs sketches and having the gaps filled in on the areas where I couldn't recall a certain number item.
Sesame Street is just so amazing. This baker series alone was so incredibly well done. Here we had catchy music and a catchy song, good teaching about the numbers, and a lot of fun with the people involved. And I'm not just talking about the baker on the steps at the end (which of course was very fun and entertaining for the kids watching) but also throughout the number sketches. Love the sound effect as the camera would go to a different person, too.

Does the same kid do "5 ice cream sodas" and "7 straws"?

From what I remember, he said "5 ice cream sodas" with an edge of excitement, and "7 straws" (stuck fan-like in a lone soda glass) with an air of disappointment.

I thought the latter reaction was because he thought he was expected to share that particular frappe with 6 other people. But although I can understand his anticipation of 5 whole sodas to himself, he was probably too young to realize that would make anyone sick, cast-iron stomach or not. (In high school I knew a kid who could eat 2 Jim Dandys from Friendly's inside of 10 minutes; I doubt even he could handle 5 whole sodas). And I don't they keep well enough to save for later.

Mathematical analysis department: he would get 1/35th as much ice cream with the 7 straws as with the 5 full sodas. That's some ratio!

I don't know if it was the same kid because I don't have real clear memory on the number five segment (it seems like it was the least frequent one I saw, besides the number one segment. The five 'whatever they are's is about my only vivid memory). But I recall very clearly the way the boy said, "Seven straws." To me it always sounded like he was puzzled, rather than disappointed. Probably wondering what so many straws were doing in one glass. But that's some pretty nifty mathematical analysis you did there!

Who remembers this one?

Here's an animated number segment that was shown in the very first episode of SS.

It shows a boy, holding a chalk-board eraser in his hand, with which he begins to just "erase" things, while chanting the following chant to the soft beat of a snair drum.

He starts by saying "One, two, erase your shoe." - (he erases his shoe)
then "Three, four, wipe off the door." - (he erases a door)
then "Five, six, rub out the bricks!" - (he erases a building!)
Then he says "Seven, eight, sit down and wait." - (which he does)
several angry adults apear, at which he says "Nine, ten; in trouble again!"
Then he gets a look like he suddenly has an idea, and as he chants "one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine!" he promptly erases all the people, (which are replaced with numbers as he recites them), then says, as he rests his elbow on the #9, - "Ten!":stick_out_tongue:

Ten should be the easiest to remember since it was played on the "Street We Live On" special. Though, I remember number nine pretty well, since :sympathy: made an appearance in that one.
