uhhh... Cleopatra isn't one of them, is it? Cuz I saw the opening segment with the live action bodies with animated heads, and I was pretty disturbed by it.

No Cleopatra isn't a short movie Drtooth. It's a full-length feature. And I don't have it.

hah hah... I don't think it's even availble in the states. I find it funny, since it was one of the first animated features to get an X rating (I can't remember if they said Fritz the cat came first or this). There are clips of it on youtube, but I cannot post them here. But it really wasn't a proud moment for him. I remember reading it was the last film he did under his production company, which was going under while the film was being produced.

I wouldn't want to add it to my collection anyway Drtooth.

I have seen the youtube clips that were posted on another forum I belong to for Tezuka fans, and let's just say they're not exactly family entertainment.

I'm sorry Tezuka ever went this far in an animated movie.

Bloody Bunnies

Everyone has brought up some great films and I feel there has never been a bad Disney animated movie. Dreamworks has also had a string of entertaining features, but my favorite animated film of all time is actually NOT a kids' movie.
When I was about 12 years old, my mom gave me a VHS copy of "Watership Down", and for the benefit of those who have never seen this masterpiece, the story deals with political and social issues as well as class structure in society, but instead of human beings, the story uses rabbits. Some religious themes are explored as well, and for an animated picture, there is some graphic violence. What drew me to the story was the use of rabbits to explore the various themes, and how true it was to the novel of the same name, which I read sometime later. My brother calls it "The Bloody Bunny Movie", and my wife just doesn't care for it...but "Watership Down" I feel is one of the best movies ever, animated or otherwise.

I hated this movie, because they changed Mrs. Frisby's name to Mrs. Brisby.. a small change, perhaps, but it was my favorite book back then, and I was a bitter child :grouchy:
No offense, but that's kind of a ridiculous reason to hate a movie IMO.

The name change came because Wham-O, the company that manufactures the Frisbee toy, was concerned about trademark infringement if "Mrs. Frisby" was used in the movie. From the Wikipedia article on the movie:

During the film's production, the studio was contacted by Wham-O, the manufacturers of Frisbee flying discs, with concerns about possible trademark infringements if the "Mrs. Frisby" name in O'Brien's original book was used in the movie. By then, the voice work had already been recorded for the film, so the name change to "Mrs. Brisby" necessitated a combination of re-recording some lines and, because John Carradine was unavailable for further recordings, careful sound editing.

My best Animated Films List. These aren't the films I like, they are films I love. :flirt:

1 Who Framed Roger Rabbit (it counts many times over)
2 The Little Mermaid (the last great cel animated film)
3 The Secret of Nimh (innovative non-Disney)
4 The Incredibles (an altogether great picture)
5 Mickey's Christmas Carol (I adored this film)
6 Ratatoullie (for the grown ups and made me hungry)
7 Beauty and the Beast (almost as good as Mermaid)
8 The Lion King (patchy, but well done)
9 Howl's Moving Castle (beautifully done)
10 Shrek (fun)

 Animated films that I really didn't like include:
Pocahontas (rather lifeless)
Happy Feet (love penguins, passionately hated this boring movie)
Toy Story (an achievement that led to better films)
Polar Express (dull and creepy corpse children)
The Pebble and the Penguin (needs no explanation)

Sounds almost like the Spa'am problem they had on MTI....
