If it tops Doctor Strange I'd be ticked off... If it tops Trolls...well...yeah, I don't wanna see Trolls, but even that doesn't deserve it.
Nah, i'm not too worried about Doctor Strange. Disney's pretty much got this thing locked up for the next couple of months, what, with three of their biggest properties releasing movies one after another. First Marvel, then Disney animation, and then we have a Star Wars spin off movie coming out in December. Disney is probably fine for the rest of the year.

I'm not seeing Doctor Strange. Go Team Tibet! :super:
I don't see that as being any different than the fanboys that refused to give Iron Man 3 the time of day because he was cast to be a stand in for Middle Eastern terrorists instead of the long bearded Chinese yellow terror character he was designed to be. Movies are never the definitive version of a comic book character. And even then, they change those comics every 5 years anyway.

Though it sucks we're so afraid of China's box office output that we're letting them dictate what we should have in movies. I don't see why they can't have just shot two versions of the scenes for this film. It's happened before.

Plus, maybe if they let a Tibetan actor rise up amongst the ranks of the bigger name stars, that wouldn't also be a problem.

I'm not crazy about Iron Man 3 sucking up to China either. It's scary how cowardly Hollywood can be. I'm already getting tired of the constant comic book movies, it's no great loss to me if I never see another one.

But I won't be a wet blanket, I hope others enjoy Doctor Strange.

I'm seeing Doctor Strange tonight!!!

Trolls is going to flop, as I said on the Hollywood Reporter, I doubt that anyone born after 1997 is going to even own one of the toys -- they haven't been relevant in, what, 20 years.

Oh and some robot space movie too, probably will bomb.
Did it end up ever getting released? Because if anything, they're ripping off Toonami a bit - robots on a spaceship.
f anything was going to sink the Titanic, it was BB-8.

I love that little guy.
Me too. You just inspired a new fanfic.
Yuri Lowenthal seems to be the go-to for dirt cheap productions, as he's in everything from RWBY to Dino Time. I think he's non-union.
Thankfully, Steven Blum hasn't been in these awful films, with the exception of The Boxtrolls which I haven't seen. Though hopefully they didn't make him use the voice he gave to Guilmon. That was a freaking disgrace.
I'm a big fan of the new Lion Guard cartoon as well, feeling closer to the original source material than the 90's T&P cartoon series.
I only like it because of Makucha, and you know why. Suddenly the furry fandom doesn't seem so bad after all.

I have to admit, I find the whole "there's too many comic book movies" both accurate and a bit snobbish. What Marvel (at least the Disney owned movies) is doing is unprecedented, and none too different from old time movie serials. Say what you will about this line of films, they're competently produced and written overall. There's flaws, but nothing major. To me the fault about the over-saturation is the other studios. The X-Men films are a mixed bag and all, but Fox's insistence to keep some of the Marvel franchises they botched horribly is ridiculous. I'm glad they lost what they did, but the critical and commercial failure of Fantastic Four should have lead to a direct surrender of the property to Disney. Sure, it took Daredevil and Ghost Rider forever to revert the rights to and they're both TV/Netflix characters in the universe of the movies and not movies themselves. Sony at least took the hint after screwing up Amazing Spider-Man 2 for trying to make a Universe out of one comic book character and shares the characters with Disney. And letting them have more input because they know how to make Super Hero movies.

And then there's DC. [headdesk]. They technically could have had this and did it backwards with the super hero team movie first then the spinoffs. There was a perfectly good script for a Justice League movie before the writers' strike after they made a Superman movie everyone hated for some reason. But no. They launched it off a mixed bag Superman movie (a franchise that animation aside has only like 1 really good movie and one decent enough one), followed it up with a disappointing knockoff of Civil War (it's the same basic plot, but CW did it right by NOT having a spazzy pervert as a villain), and then capped things off with a movie that by all means should have been better than it was, was still better than Batman V Superman, but they screwed up by making them rush the script out. Now the only appealing DC comics movie isn't even related to their DCU, but the Lego Movie universe.

Other studios shouldn't copy what Marvel has been successful with. They're doing it wrong, they've done a lousy job, it took Marvel years to achieve. And that's after quite a few misfires.

Well it's not comic book movies specifically, it's just the over saturation. It's like Disco -- peppy and fun when kept in moderation, lol.

And then there's DC.
Thing is none of them are bombing at the box office, so they don't have a reason to change at the moment (though I'm sure the constant negative reviews are worrying them in the long term). Fans don't care about the reviews. They liked a trailer and nothing is going to change their minds, not even the movie itself! Another reason, I suppose, I'm tired of comic book movies, or maybe just geek properties in general. Too much drama with the fanbases.

I saw Doctor Strange. It was awesome! The part where the Ancient One pushes Stephen into the multiverse reminded me of Cyriak, especially the hand part. And Dormammu reminded me of Swayzak.
