Hey, I have a little question regarding the one-shot Sesame character Warren Wolf. I never saw this sketch before, but I heard several people talking about it, and it made me curious.

I was wondering why the character was created in the first place? Here are my three theories...

THEORY 1
The Kermit puppet they were using before they made this sketch began to look a little beat-up and worn out, so they began building a new Kermit (you'll notice that a new Kermit puppet was used on "The Great Muppet Caper," that is, according to Muppet Wiki). But they were only half-completed on the new Kermit, and they were supposed to make a Sesame Street News Flash sketch (the one with Dr. Nobel Price "inventing" the microphone), so they quickly whipped together Warren Wolf and had Henson use that instead of Kermit.

THEORY 2
Sometimes they have alternate news reporters substitute for main broadcasters. Usually the sub reporter announces that he is substituting for the main reporter. The people at CTW/Henson decided to simulate this.

THEORY 3
Kermit was too busy with "The Great Muppet Caper," so they decided to make a substitute reporter Muppet for that.

Does anyone think my theories could be possible?

Actually, I think all your theories are quite plausible. I always wondered why that strange looking muppet did that segment with Dr. Nobel Price... He never did make another appearance did he? He wasn't appealing to me as a kid at all. It'll be very interesting to see the real answer but you seem to be on the right track in terms of an explanation.

Well, Jim Henson still performed Warren Wolf, so it would be weird if Kermit was busy being in GMC while Jim Henson was able to perform on SS.
