Mario did have a show in the mid-80's (it may have been Japan only).

The Original Mario Brothers Game didn't come out until 1983, so Pac-Man was well ahead of it, both as a vide game and as a TV show.. even if you count Donkey Kong, from which Mario was a spin-off, Pac-Man was still a year earlier
