"Waldorf & Statler," or "Statler & Waldorf?"

Hi-ya Hi-ya!

I just joined up here at the forums, and I have a question:

I remember those guys as "Waldorf & Statler," but I generally see them listed as "Statler & Waldorf." I don't own any of the Muppet Show episodes, but I'm sure I remember them referred to as "Waldorf & Statler." Can anyone confirm this?

Hiya Wakka, welcome aboard!

It's possbile, but I believe for 99% of the population (who actually know their names, that is), it's "Statler & Waldorf".

Plus, that's how they introduce themselves in "The Muppet Movie".

I guess if you grew up thinking it was Waldorf & Statler then that is what makes most sense

I grew up with & but that doesn't make & wrong

Just something I thought I should mention. They were referred to as "Statler and Waldorf" in the Danny Kaye episode of TMS.

Oh yeah, and in "A Muppet Family Christmas", Fozzie says it S&W, too...

"Statler? Waldorf? Wh--what're you guys doin' here?"

I can't say where I got the W & S exactly, but it's always been like that for me. I use it like that in jokes that most people I know don't get.

I've noticed in photos, it's lined up with Waldorf and Statler in that order, but I've always heard their names as Statler and Waldorf.

Statler.

Look at that name and then say it. Seems weird all of a sudden.

Yes, they are usually shown as W&S but their names are always said as S&W. The same thing goes for Bert and Ernie. They are usually shown as E&B but their names are said B&E. It's weird that this happened to two of the muppets most famous duos. Anyone know of any others?

On the painting on the wall, isn't the picture Bert and then Ernie? I always called them Bert and Ernie, but like Ernie better.
