Is there a video anywhere of the opera-singing orange named Cecile? The one that sang Carmen, and had a rubber band for lips. Is this on any of the SS dvd's that are out?

Cecile is not the same as the opera-singing orange, though they do look similar enough to confuse some people. Some differences that people forget or don't notice:

1. The film with the orange was a stop-motion job using real kitchen items for her facial features. Cecile's films were done entirely with Claymation--body, face, background and all.

2. The singing orange was never given a name and never appeared in any other films. She also had a higher singing voice than Cecile.

3. The song that introduces each of Cecile's films describes her as "[having] a rubber sole [soul?]"; that seems to identify her as a rubber ball, not an orange.

Unfortunately, I have no DVD player or other way of knowing whether any current video collections include the singing-orange clip. Sorry to disappoint you!

There's also quite a span of time between those clips. the one with the singing orange goes back to the early 70's. And the orange did get decorated with various kitchen objects: buttons for eyes, a walnut nose, a rubber band mouth, flower petals for eyelashes, a feather duster for hair, and bottle caps for earrings.
The song she sings is "Habanera" from Bizet's opera Carmen.

Cecile came along late 80's/early 90's and was done in Claymation. Her only facial feature was a mouth. Still very cool, though.

Thanks for the clarification. I am looking for the older clip. Anyone know where it might exist?

Might want to check some episode guides to see when the singing orange first aired--and whether Noggin ever showed those reruns recently enough for another fan to tape.
