Hello all, I would like to get even just one episode of Sesame Street from the 70s, the earlier the better. Can anyone tell me PLEASE where/how I might be able to get one of those episodes either on VHS or DVD? Thanks. BTW, I have read the many threads here on trading but noticed that those posts are very old, in any case, the only thing I have for trade which may/may not be of interest to anyone are a few DVD's of early "Soul Train" episodes, if anyone's interested, please email me at

hey mike,
i think a lot of us classic SS fans are looking for something similar as well. we're doing everything we can to get Sesame Workshop to either release some classic episodes on DVD or at least air some on Sprout.

i'm in this with you!

Appreciate the response Dana, I am only interested in the 70s episodes with the "original" cast and if I could get just one I will be content.

I am somewhat interested in seeing those as well, because I was not alive in the '70s and did not start watching SS until the early '90s (I was born in '89), so I have never seen a single episode with the original cast.

Well I was born in '62 so when the show first aired in the late 60s I was child growing up with the show so to speak, over the years the show has changed in a lot of ways but I wish to relive my childhood every once in a while which is why I want only to get an episode from that period when I was a child.

It has been said that Sesame Workshop is considering releasing some special classic Sesame Street DVDs sometime in the near future, but due to certain egalties, they won't be released untill at least 2007 (only one year). However, it hasn't been stated whetehr these would be actual hour-long episodes, collections of just short skits and no linking footage, segments linked with documentary-style linking material, or what. I would be a little disapointed if a "Special edition" was just a DVD with new linking footage and old skits, since that's how many Sesame Street DVDs have been released.

Yeah if the purchases of "The Electric Company" dvds did good enough perhaps we'll see at least a "best of" release of classic SS. Hopefully at least some of them will be other than ones shown on Noggin, so we can see other clips that it's been years from seeing. And mikehende, have you seen the clips at youtube? Just mentioning in case you haven't, since it would enable you to see some of these old ones you are craving.

Appreciate the info guys, yes, that's encouraging news, hope they release "full" episodes from the early 70s. Yes, I had come across the link to the clips in my searches and then saw the link here again in one of the threads I had come across, it was good to see the "Pinball" and other clips.
