Correct. In the second-season episode "Out of Their Minds," the villains of the piece are tall, bird-like creatures without feathers...VERY much like Skeksis. I don't know if these were the same figures slightly redesigned, or if they created entirely new creatures that were somewhat based on the old designs.

I didn't mention it before because it's not technically a reference, though it's certainly something TDC fans would want to look for.
