I am looking to get the DVD of "It's a very Merry Muppet christmas Movie" (I think that one is the moulin rouge one??).

My question is, are the US (region1) and aussie (region4) versions different?

The aussie one is in widescreen and has the theatrical trailer and "Inside Pepe's Studio".

On amazon.com, it has the region1 version with what appears to be more extras (bloopers, deleted scenes, muppet bio's etc). It also appears to NOT be in widescreen. Is this true?

That's true.
Region 2 & 4 gets widescreen but less extra stuff than the US release

There are another couple of advantages, one being that the region 2 and 4 versions are in the superior PAL colour system!

Also, its cheaper than getting it sent from the US, especially from amazon.com.

you can pick it up on ebay for about $10-15 aud at times.

By the way, great to see another Australian on here. We'd love to see you at the Australian muppet forum at muppets downunder!

thanks everyone for the responses. The aussie version is only $16AUD at the moment, and has a better sleeve IMO, so I'll just get that one.

Muppetsdownunder, I will have to check out your site...

It was filmed in some kind of digital wide screen. Why they didn't make the US version wide screen I have no idea.

seriously - why does henson (or whoever owns the muppets now) do this? why dont they put the movies out on widescreen?

i konw a few of them are but many are NOT. and now they did it again?!

i loved this on tv but i will NOT buy it until it comes out in the US with widescreen. period.
