One other thing that I find curious about this movie - it's just now occured to me: what was up with that new "hair do" Sam was sporting for this movie and only this movie? Where he had like a feather comb-over or something.

It seemed like they were trying to make him Sideshow Mel from Simpsons.

Here are a few things to keep in mind: This movie is dated, but so is every other Muppet movie cause, they brought in stars of the time and made references to what was going on in the world. Also, Scooter dancing in a cage is supposed to be unsettling. Listen to Kirk Thatcher talk about this on the puppet podcast Getting Felt Up and you'll understand what they were thinking.
