Discuss history, people, dummies, making, performance, etc!

I personally am not talented enough to be a ventriloquist. My mouth moves. I'm a puppeteer. I can't keep my mouth still or closed, although Edgar Bergen was rather "campy" with it and his mouth moved--but, he was also funnier than me.

I'm not really a ventriloquist either,I've tried though.But I'm better as a puppeteer.

I'm a big fan of ventriloquism! I feel very fortunate to have grown up watching Shari Luis, even if it was her newer show. What a talent she was! I like when she is doing a singing number and she is singing really fast with Lamb chop, or singing with multiple characters at the same time. There is nothing easy about that. it's one character, then her, then another one and so on, it's great!

Alright I'll bite...speaking of VentriloQuism...As a New Yorker I'm looking forward to Jay Johnson's show "The Two and Only" that is moving to Broadway this fall. The show was off broadway in 2004 and is coming back. I hear he has an amazing "Distant voice".

I love Jeff Dunham. There's one talented ventriloquist. He can throw his voice across the stage. I mean, his technique isn't flawless, you can see his jugular throat thing moving up and down, and sometimes he talks between himself and the puppet so fast he forgets to stop moving his lips or start again, but he's so funny you don't notice.

I think Jeff Dunham is really great too...and interestingly enough the new DVD of his show "Arguing With Myself" has been on and around the top 10 of Amazon for weeks now since its release. Very impressive for one guy and a bunch of puppets....er vent figures. He also lives at the very cool and properly spelled url of http://Ventriloquist.com
