That's a very scary thought - the USPS is over $10 billion in debt! If it was a private business, they'd be gone long time ago.
This, again, is all part of Bush era greed and incompetence. Reckless tax cuts during time of war that only puts money in the hands of big business that refuses to use any of their generous "found money" to invest in their own company (i.e. hiring more employees, giving lower level employees a decent wage, investing in new technologies) and shove it all in their pockets as profit. And now because of that, EVERYONE is in debt... and they're looking to slash funding EVERYWHERE cutting even more jobs and causing more problems because no one wants to pay taxes. Now we're in a state where we can't even raise them.

In other words, the big faceless UPS and FedEx get huge tax cuts and then wind up losing a little money and making up imaginary things to fee and raise rates... meanwhile, the USPS would have befitted from what those guys got from the government... and they've got those sweetheart deals Frogboy was talking about. Corporations ONLY look out for themselves.
