Chapter Four

The opening number was definitely not some thing to be forgotten easily. Miss Piggy was singing with two whatnots as backup dancers:
Remember my name
Fame
I'm gonna live forev---
On the chorus of the song, the whatnots had to lift up Miss Piggy, but she was so heavy, they dropped her.

Things didn't get much better from then on. During Vet Hospital, Rowlf was left unconscious after Miss Piggy karate chopped him, and Rowlf had to sing and play piano for the next sketch.

"What are we going to do now?" asked Maggie, who was also singing with Rowlf.

"I don't know. Improvise," Kermit told her as he sent her onstage.

The stage was completely dark except for a single spotlight shining on the young pup as she began to sing:

We were both young when I first saw you
I close my eyes
And the flashback starts
I'm standing there
On a balcony in summer air
See the lights
See the party, the ball gowns
I see you make your way through the crowd
And say hello, little did I know
That you were Romeo, you were throwing pebbles
And my daddy said stay away from Juliet
And I was crying on the staircase
Begging you please don't go, and I said
Romeo take me somewhere we can be alone
I'll be waiting all there's left to do is run
You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess
It's a love story baby just say yes
So I sneak out to the garden to see you
We keep quiet 'cause we're dead if they knew
So close your eyes
Escape this town for a little while
'Cause you were Romeo, I was a scarlet letter
And my daddy said stay away from Juliet
But you were everything to me
I was begging you please don't go and I said
Romeo take me somewhere we can be alone
I'll be waiting all there's left to do is run
You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess
It's a love story baby just say yes
Romeo save me, they try to tell me how to feel
This love is difficult, but it's real
Don't be afraid, we'll make it out of this mess
It's a love story baby just say yes
I got tired of waiting
Wondering if you were ever coming around
My faith in you is fading
When I met you on the outskirts of town, and I said
Romeo save me I've been feeling so alone
I keep waiting for you but you never come
Is this in my head? I don't know what to think
He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring
And said, marry me Juliet
You'll never have to be alone
I love you and that's all I really know
I talked to your dad, go pick out a white dress
It's a love story baby just say yes
'Cause we were both young when I first saw you.

The audience absolutely loved the little mutt in the camouflage hat and orange aviator shades.

Fun Fact Time!
*Most of this fanfic was written during spare time in a classroom.
*All but two songs in the whole fanfic are from my iPod.
*The character "Maggie" is based off a puppet I own.
*Miss Piggy's music number was based on a random idea involving Janice performing with Bert and Ernie. (that idea was less catastrophic than when the pig was doing it with the whatnots)
*In the process of writing these fun facts, I solved the yellow side of a Rubik's Cube.
*I am actually working on learning to play "Rainbow Connection" on clarinet using sheet music from "50 Years of Movie Music" book.

Chapter Five

After Maggie's improvised music number, we had an "At the Dance" segment. I gazed deeply into Scooter's eyes as we were dancing together. I was never that great of a dancer, but with Scooter, it was magical. However, the scene was over quickly.

In the next scene, our guest star, the dude who played Harry Potter in those movies, was singing a duet with Janice.

Do you believe in magic?
In a young girls heart
How the music can free her
whenever it starts
And it's magic
if the music is groovy
It makes you feel happy like an old time movie
I'll tell ya about the magic
It'll free your soul
but it's like trying to tell a stranger 'bout rock n roll
If you believe in magic, don't bother to choose
If it's jug band music or rhythm and blues
Just go and listen
It'll start with a smile
It won't wipe off your face no matter how hard you try
Your feet start tapping
And you can't seem to find
How you got there
So just blow your mind
If you believe in magic
Come along with me
We'll dance until morning, just you and me
and maybe, if the music is right
I'll meet ya tomorrow
so late at night
We'll go dancin' baby then you'll see
all the magic's in the music and the music's in me, yeah
Do you believe in magic? Yeah.
Believe in the magic in a young girl's soul
believe in the magic of rock n roll
Believe in the magic that can set you free
Ohhhh, talkin' bout magic
Do you believe like I believe?
Do you believe in magic?

As the song came to an end, I walked over towards Scooter backstage. "So, Scooter," I began.

"Yes?"

"I was thinking, maybe, possibly, you would want to go out with me, like, on a date?"

"I already have a girlfriend," he told me. Nothing in the world could have possibly mended my broken heart.

Chapter Six

The next day, I met Scooter's girlfriend, Ashley. She was stunning. Short blond hair, amber eyes, and beautiful beyond any airbrushed picture of a celebrity. No wonder Scooter was more interested in her than me. I was just the geeky girl with brown hair and eyes that played clarinet.

Even more brokenhearted than yesterday, I turned on the radio just as the next song was beginning.

You’re on the phone with your girlfriend
She’s upset
She’s going off about something that you said
‘Cuz she doesn't get your humor like I do…
I’m in the room
It’s a typical Tuesday night
I’m listening to the kind of music she doesn’t like
And she’ll never know your story like I do’

But she wears short skirts
I wear T-shirts
She’s cheer captain
And I’m in the bleachers
Dreaming about the day when you wake up
And find what you’re looking for has been here the whole time

If you could see that I’m the one who understands you
Been here all along so why can’t you see, you
You belong with me

You belong with me
Walkin’ the streets with you and your worn-out jeans
I can’t help thinking this is how it ought to be
Laughing on a park bench, thinking to myself
Hey isn’t this easy

And you’ve got a smile that could light up this whole town
I haven’t seen it in a while since she brought you down
You say your fine
I know you better then that
Hey whatcha doing with a girl like that

She wears high heels
I wear sneakers
She’s cheer captain and I’m on the bleachers
Dreaming about the day when you wake up
That what you’re looking for has been here the whole time

If you could see that I’m the one who understands you
Been here all along so why can’t you see
You belong with me

Standing by and waiting at your back door
All this time how could you not know
Baby…
You belong with me

Oh’
I remember you drivin’ to my house in the middle of the night
I’m the one who makes you laugh
When you know your about to cry
And I know your favorite songs
And you tell me about your dreams
Think I know where you belong
Think I know it’s with me…

Can’t you see that I’m the one who understands you
Been here all along
So why can’t you see
You belong with me

Standing by and waiting at your back door
All this time
How could you not know
Baby you belong with me
You belong with me

You belong with me
Have you ever thought just maybe
You belong with me

You belong with me.

Isn't that all too true, I thought to myself as the song ended. What am I just standing here moping around here like some damsel in distress for then? I picked up my cell phone and began to dial the number.

Awesome. That song's one of my faves from Lovin' Spoonful. Thanks for the update, enjoyed it.
