Robbie Williams swings out with The Muppets in BBC special

Robbie Williams fulfilled a life-long ambition when he teamed up with The Muppets at the London Palladium for a BBC special.

The singer sang a romantic version of Somethin' Stupid with porcine megastar Miss Piggy during a one-off concert to celebrate his second swing album, Swings Both Ways.

Meanwhile Kermit, Gonzo and even the notoriously hard to please Waldorf and Statler seemed to be enjoying themselves in the star-studded audience.

The all-singing, all-dancing show, which Robbie described as 'an amazing evening in my life', will screen on BBC1 on Friday, December 6, and will also be released as One Night at the Palladium Blu-ray and One Night at the Palladium DVD, on December 9.

It sees Robbie backed by a 30-piece orchestra as he duets with Rufus Wainwright on the title track from the album and he also sings with Lily Allen and his dad Pete Conway and performs classics such as Puttin' On The Ritz and Mr Bojangles, along with new tracks including Go Gentle, which he wrote for his 14-month-old daughter Teddy.

I'm watching this now:

It starts of with Kermit introducing Robbie, then Kermit flailing his cute flippers as the curtain goes up...

Total mayhem in the control room as Kermit and Gonzo blatantly plug "Muppets Most Wanted"

Miss Piggy mistaking Robbie (in her dressing room) as an employee of the London Palladium and not knowing who Robbie is until Kermit explains.

Gonzo suggesting they blow Robbie out of a cannon whilst Fozzie tells terrible jokes.

Hmmm this seems all a bit familiar somehow

THIS was a strong, incredibly great Muppet appearance. Statler and Waldorf had original content that was truly funny, Miss Piggy's dressing-room sequence in which she thought that Robbie Williams was some kind of stage-hand was amazing and her finale-note in their duet was Never-Before-Style hilarious. Kermit got to do the intro, and Fozzie/Gonzo had some fun lines in the midway break. Loved it.

Robbie: "Let Me Entertain You?"
Piggy: "Go on then..."
Robbie: "Candy?"
Piggy: "Oh yes please, you got any chocolate?"
