Honestly, I've been to Disneyland about seven times, and I haven't seen walk-around characters since my first visit, which was eleven years ago. At least, not in the actual Disneyland park. I've seen more characters in California Adventure than I have in Disneyland in recent years. Every character I've seen has had a designated place and time they were going to be there, and you had to stand in line (especially for the more popular characters like Jack Sparrow).

I have to admit, I thought this was in full effect years ago. The last three times I went to WDW, I never saw a character walking around like a free range chicken, they were always chained to a Disney Gestapo Officer being handed bits of stale bread by a caffeinated park photographer.

This isn't for WDW, WDW never had walkaround characters, this is for Disneyland
