TV Alert: Sesame Street introduces new Muppet Julia on 60 Minutes March 19, 2017

This Sunday, "60 Minutes" will premiere their first ever feature on Sesame Street. Lesley Stahl will be visiting the street interviewing the cast and crew.

The segment will also highlight Julia, an autistic Muppet that will debut in her first Sesame Street episode on Monday April 10 on both HBO and PBS. Tune in and watch the "60 Minutes" segment at 6c|7e on CBS.

A bit of trivia, "60 Minutes" has been on the air since 1968, making it one year older than the pioneering children's television show.

"60 Minutes" visited "The Muppet Show" back in 1979 with this classic segment.

Fantastic segment.

I hate to see the state PBS is facing, but Sesame really got out (in a way) at the right time. I'm glad they have proper funding so they can continue doing stuff like this.

That was a wonderful treat. Great that we finally got to see Julia in action and meet her performer, Stacey. It's cool that Julia has two different sets of arms – wobbly and non-wobbly.

I didn't expect to see the Jazzy Alphabet cartoon in one of the montages, lol.

BTW, did anyone notice Sherlock Hemlock and Bel in the Muppet Workshop during the highlight of Julia's building?

I just saw the 60 Minutes segment on TV about twenty minutes ago. I'm really glad Julia's actually going to be on the show and not just in books like we originally thought she was going to be. I'm excited for her debut.

One thing I thought was interesting was they actually hired a completely new puppeteer to perform her, as opposed to using one of the puppeteers they already have.

Julia has a very odd look to her, almost like she's from a different show. I can't decide if I like that or not. But, then again, Abby's design is pretty unconventional, so I guess i'll get used to it.

Probably because they wanted somebody that has more experience with autism. Her son has that condition.

Julia has a very odd look to her, almost like she's from a different show. I can't decide if I like that or not. But, then again, Abby's design is pretty unconventional, so I guess i'll get used to it.

Abby was intentional: they wanted to avoid giving her a traditional Muppet look because she was meant to look like an "outsider."

As for Julia, she looks fine. I just think we're not used to seeing a humanoid Muppet with yellow skin aside from Bert (or Guy Smiley, to a lesser extent).

Wow just wow! I absolutely love what Sesame is trying to do here! Something tells me that even though Sesame has a good deal with HBO that they are going to be what saves PBS.
