honestly, after the three-episode "movie", i havn't exactly gone out of my way to see it. though i bought tapes tonight, so i'll tape/watch this weekend. He-Man was REALLY good, but i was not impressed with Armada, even though i really wanted to be.

and all my fellow sci-fi nerds take note, the REAL reason i bought tapes tonight is because the season premiere of Enterprise is tomorrow, (wed) and i'm looking forward too it! ALSO , there is a new Twilight Zone series, hosted by Forrest Whitaker (who i really like) that begins after Enterprise...

An update... I saw Kirby, and I'm sorry to say this, but I liked it! (To self) Bad James! Bad Bad Bad James!!!!! If anything, I liked the villians, King Dedede and Escargoof (the Snail). An I also thought that the Swing type theme song is a funny change from the usuall punk rock/techno remix sounding Japanese theme music.

However, Fighting Foodons wa (as the theme song suggests) bad, bad, bad!!! The opening song is soooo misleading. It sounded like it would be funny, seeing as how it didn't take itself too seriously, but then it just flops. It doesn't even try to struggle out of the pathetic sub-genre of Anime I call "Card monster fighting." Siggh.. It could have worked, but it just turned into another Pokemon!

>>>It doesn't even try to struggle out of the pathetic sub-genre of Anime I call "Card monster fighting."<<<

I couldnt agree with you more. Sure it rose 'anime' to super mainstream status, but it also ruined most people's idea of(in my deep south voice) 'dem japer-nana-mation'. The card monster crud is so pathetic in my view...the animation is sub par to even that of early 80's tv anime. The humour is really, well just lame.
That kind of humour makes Wuzzles and Gummy Bears seem like the age of enlightenment.

I could list two dozen animes that fall under this unwatchable category...sadly enough there is about 10 dozen more still on Japanese shores that havent hit yet.

This 'pokemon' style has even infected the once unshakably cool Transformers...so dashing fanboys hopes everywhere, the last couple of TF anime ressurections have been totally pokemon-ized!
(there was a recent 'Penny Arcade' comic strip that commented on this)

You wonder why some sci fi and other genre fans dont like anime??? Because of these HORRIFIC abominations!
As a side note 2 years ago, Fox Kids actually had this kickbutt anime called Escaflowne on saturday mornings...of course the animationw as too good for the hour, too violent and too challenging to stay on very long. Luckily the film, though poorly drawn, hit a semi wide release last spring.

I feel like such a doofus liking Kirby........

At least It's (in my opinion) more watchable than Pokemon. I mean, this is the first time I haven't seen a "swishy" villain in a Made for the US Anime project (Try and tell me that Team Rocket isn't...you know....). They're all so dainty. I bet they make real fun of them on the Japanese versions.

don't feel bad, after hearing that you liked it i'm looking forward to seeing it at least once.

but then, i actually LIKE one of the "card monster" animes...Digimon! it's just so much MORE than that poke-crap could ever hope to be.

Never really liked Digimon. I don't care how much better drawn it is, I still think it was released to America for Fox to cash in off the success of Pokemon. Don't feel bad, though, I hate them both equally.

Well, 2 years ago I watched some Digimon episodes...as to me it is the 'best'(though thats not saying much) of the pocket card monster cartoons. IT is the cleanest most professional looking. I saw Fighting Foodons(or Suckibadanime no Watchie in Japan^_^)
and boy that takes the cake as the most upsettingly horrificly bad kiddy import cartoon ever.

As a side note Power Rangers is now on Disney One Saturday on ABC(so is Saban now with Disney for this one?) I guess Fox said after a decade of having one of the lamest shows ever(Hated it in the 80's when it was yuri yuri rangers, and hated it in 1993)
they needed to fob it off on ABC.

Actually....

FOx Kids folded, because no one watched it any more. And rather than just cancelling Power Rangers and such, and bringing back old favorites like The Ripping Friends, or Eek the cat (and so on), they decided to pull a WOrld com, and take whatever they had and ran. 4kids got the rights to do their programming and it became Fox Box.

DIsney, in turn bought Saban. Apparently, they do their thinking where they do their sitting. Power Rangers rappidly declined in popularity after they kept changing the name so they wouldn't have to pay the old actors. They also air Digimon on One too now, forcing bad shows like Sabrina to Toon Disney, killing great old Classics like Darkwing Duck, Tailspin and Rescue Rangers. See why I hate Digimon?

Obviously there are bad muffins floating around Disney. First the Country Bears, now this???

While I liked Eek the Cat, I have to say it is my opinion after two decades of Saturday Morning cartoon viewing, that
Ripping Friends is without question the absolute most abhorrently horrific worst cartoon in the history of cartoons. And Im including Ukrainian micro budget Tom and Jerry ripoffs.

Aw...well all I care about is TMNT! The other 'fox box' shows interest me about as much as a hernia(especially after I saw em)

I cant see how anybody would have liked Power Rangers...but I will say I could understand more 10 years ago then now.

Dude, those cartoons went out in the early 90's, if not late 80's...a decade before Digimon ever aired.

Um...oh man, you dont want me to tally up the grand total of bad muffins at the Diz man! Lets just look at all those horrible cheapquels for one, pure desecration!
