You're the last guy who posted. Maybe you don't remember what you said. I was having fun with your watching House of a 1000 corpses. Nevermind.

Hey Kev, how about EM TV? ;-)
AAAUUGH!!

Zack wasn't the only one who saw it. There were 4 of my friends who suffered through it, too. We all work on a Haunted House attraction each October ( www.nightmarez.org ) and they wanted to do 'research.' They hated it. Seems they also said that there's a sequel in the works.

No, Nope, and Nadda.

I don't really see any similarities between the two films at all (especially visually).

There is no doubt when looking at the Genie, that he is a Hirschfeld drawing, sprung to life.
Well, the only similarity was between the blue-skinned, black-bearded villain and the Genie. But...whatever. I may be remembering this whole thing wrong anyway.

I just checked IMDB, and I found two things very amusing. First, that when you type in "The Thief and the Cobbler," the poster for "Arabian Knight" comes up, without any explanation that this is the same film with an alternate title. Click on the poster, and a second poster also comes up with the "Knight" title, even though at the top of the screen, it still says "Thief and the Cobbler." Secondly, when you scroll to the bottom of the page, it says, "If you like this movie, we also recommend ... 'Aladdin.'"

I'm astonished. I just double-checked it on IMDB and yes, Joe Alaskey voiced Yosemite Sam in Who Framed Roger Rabbit (as well as Foghorn Leghorn). Why?? Mel Blanc was still alive at this point and did almost all of the other characters. I even saw a CBS special where they're talking about all the characters Mel plays in the movie, and they specifically show the Yosemite Sam scene!! Well, at any rate, kudos to Alaskey--I never even noticed the difference.

IMDB also says Alaskey is playing Daffy, Tweety, Slyvester and Marvin the Martian in the new movie. Oddly enough, Yosemite Sam has TWO different voice actors credited--Martin Klebba is playing "Yosemite Sam (#1 Dancer)" and Steve Babiar is playing "Yosemite Sam (#2 Dancer)." What these cryptic credits mean is anyone's guess. I suppose we'll figure it out when we see the movie.

They mentioned that in the DVD featurette but I remember exactly why. I think Mel was in failing health and was having trouble with that particular voice. Also, that scene was shot before many of the others. It was a very rushed shoot because the building wasn't available for more than a couple days.

That's really funny. The Sam scene in the documentary is nearly juxtaposed with a shot of Zemeckis saying, "We've got a new line for Mel"--which would seem to indicate it was a last-minute addition!

What's the lesson here, kids? Never believe what you see in documentaries. :smirk:

That's so sad about Mel. Ironically, he was able to do Mr. Spacely for the Jetsons movie, which was a very similar voice. That was the last project with a voice credit for him, I believe. In a way, it is kind of nice to know that they were already preparing to make sure that his characters could live on. Jim's passing was so sudden and abrupt, there was no chance for anything like that. (See how it all comes back around to the Muppets eventually?)

Yeah. I heard somewhere he AND the man behind the voice of George Jetson both passed away before The Jetsons Movie was actually released. It's sad. Mel Blanc was a wonderful voice characterizer (yeah, well, I don't know official terminology of anything).

It makes sense that they would have someone different do some of the voices for Who Framed Roger Rabbit. He was in bad health, and have you ever heard some of the voice changes from the Looney Tunes stuff made during the seventies and eighties?
