I was lucky enough to see the film yesterday at the El Capitan!

A bit of a silly question, I must say.

But oh yeah, you better believe I plan on seeing Toy Story 3.

saw it loved it.

Be warned there's a pretty intense moment of peril for the toys near the end that may be too frightening for real young viewers.

Also make sure you get there early enough so you don't miss the new Pixar short "Day and Night" a fun short with very innovative animation.

I saw it in 3D ironically because the 2D version was sold out. Overall I didn't feel the 3D added much to the movie though it did seem to help the short.

At this point, digital 3D is being used to get people back to the theater. Apparently thanks to things like netfix, people are not going to the theater as much as they used to, so 3D is being offered for a lot of movies now,
The updated 3D technology (better glasses) is another benefit of course.

Whenever available, I like to see Disney and Pixar films in 3D. I like how everything seems rounded and dimensional, The effect can be subtle at times, but I think that's the point.
Its not supposed to be like a theme park attraction; where the point there is to use 3D to scare and intimidate people.

Way I see it, they priced themselves out of the business moviewise and charge way too much to sit in a poorly maintained theater for a half hour of TV commercials to see movies they rush off to DVD anyway so they can sucker people into buying a Blu Ray edition with 80 hours of all the unfunny bloopers, rightfully deleted scenes and 30 different interviews that you'll never watch anyway. not to mention, as I've been saying, this year especially they managed to make ALL the movies come out at once, even though It's only June.

Movies have enough oomph in theaters anyway. Sure, waiting for Netflix is fine if there's a movie that you really didn't want to see that you're curious about, but all it does is rush the release date to DVD, stopping a movie from having a nice month long or more stay at the theaters. I Still say Disney pretty much rushed Princess and the Frog to DVD. I regret the heck out of seeing that poorly edited Chipmunks 2 thing.

This is definitely one to see in theaters. We saw it last night, and it was SO good. Thrilling, hilarious, touching, sad, scary, joyful . . . Just a terrific movie. I don't want to say anything specific, because there are just so many good gags and set pieces in the movie that I don't want to spoil. But I don't think folks 'round here will be disappointed.

The ENTIRE movie. The last thirty minutes will have you bawling or at least tearing up.

I spent an entire bus ride trying desperately not to cry. That's the kind of emotional thrill ride this film was. And a very organic one too. Only Pixar can do something that organic and pure. I agree with Michael Scott. Pixar really makes me lose it some times.

Now, i could gush about how indescribably wonderful the movie was, trying very hard not to reveal any details, but I just wanna move to something else.

Who else thought the opening cartoon, Day and Night was utterly amazing? NOW That's what I'm talking about! 2-D traditional AND CGI mingling together, each side selling itself and co-operating. And not some CGI vehicle going down the street, or something to fill in a crowd scene... THAT was something I've never seen before.

As for the film itself, i kinda wish they had some sort of nod to the Buzz Lightyear cartoon series, an XR or Booster in the backgroud... probably saying, Ohhh! It's Buzz. and having Buzz completely ignore them or something.

However, the surprise cameo more than made up for it. Not giving it away, but something with loose ties to Pixar and the only toy based on an outside source that wasn't a toy to begin with.

Just saw it, and the "Bring a box of tissues," claim was an understatement. I was sobbing throughout most of the film. Very great job done by Pixar.

Also, on the radio just before we went, they said that Sid appeared as an adult in the film, and he was mentioned in the end credits. Was he the garbage man who was drumming on the trash cans in the beginning of the film?

Yes, that was indeed him. He had the same skull shirt.
