I haven't seen all the muppeteer's work. but from the ones I've seen so far

1) Richard Hunt
2) Jim Henson
3) Dave Goelz
4) Steve Whitmire
5) Frank Oz
6) Jerry Nelson
7) Brian Henson
8) David Rudman
9) Louise Gold
10) Kevin Clash

I chose Richard Hunt as my Number 1 because for me, whenever I watch TMS or any other specials and movies from back then, Richard's work really seems to stand out the most for me. He has this certain energy and zaniness that really shines through in any character he plays but most especially in Scooter, Beaker and Sweetums.

Here are mine and I picked these as my top because they have come in and taken over a Muppet's voice for whatever reason.

1. Eric Jacbobson

2. Steve Whitmere

3. Bill Bereta

4. Dave Gozle

5. Richard Hunt

6. Kevin Clash

7. Brian Henson (I never thought he made a good Janice, or Newsman, but his Scooter was real good)

8. Marty P. Roberson (He is really the only Snuffy I know)

9. Jerry Nelson

10 David Ruban (I'm still getting use to his Scooter and Janice)

1. Frank Oz (sharpest natural skills and best performer hands-down) :embarrassed:
2. Jim Henson (of course)
3. Dave Goelz (soulfulness and zaniness) :concern:
4. Richard Hunt (made the most of any and every performance)
5. Jerry Nelson (distinct voice and performance every time)
6. Bill Barretta (won me over instantly and continues to do so)
7. Caroll Spinney (most dedication and character consistency)
8. Steve Whitmire (Wembley...what else needs to be said)
9. Karen Prell (sheer spark and energy always)
10. Fran Brill (distinct voice and performance like Jerry)

Honorable Mentions:
- Eric Jacobson for doing such a fantastic job with Frank's classic characters. There are so many people out there who haven't noticed a difference!
- Brian Henson for being an excellent performer when he has the time.
- Marty P. Roberson because I like Telly and Snuffy's quiet desperation.
- David Rudman for the job he's been doing with both his and Richard's characters

Wow...you guys are right, that is a tough one. Jim assembled himself a really broad talent pool, of course. But I agree: it's a given that Jim, Frank, Jerry, Richard and Dave would show up on everyone's list.

Here's my list, in no particular order:

Jim Henson
Frank Oz
Jerry Nelson
Richard Hunt
Dave Goelz
Karen Prell
Louise Gold
Kevin Clash
Steve Whitmire
David Rudman

Let's see...

1. Jim Henson
(Why wouldn't he be on this list?)
2. Richard Hunt
(Miss Piggy, I'll let you finish, but Beaker and Janice are the greatest Muppets ever.)
3. Jerry Nelson
(The Trash Heap has spoken. Nyah!)
4. Frank Oz
(Such amazing talents: Miss Piggy, Sam, Fozzie...)
5. Dave Goelz
(Major fan of Zoot and Boober)
6. Steve Whitmire
(Bean Bunny!)
7. David Rudman
(BoRhap <3)
8. Louise Gold

(I <3 Annie Sue)
9. Carroll Spinney
(I share a birthday with him!)
10. Tyler Bunch
(Treelo is my favorite Bear in the Big Blue House character)
