They were on CN for the longest time. There was even an advertisement where they made fun of A Few Good Men (or something, I don't know) and Brainy Smurf comes into a court room and shouts "I'm out of Smurf, you're out of Smurf! The whole Smurfin' System is out of Smurf!"
I also remember a CN commercial where someone asks, "Why are the Smurfs blue?" Then Grouchy appears and shouts, "We're not! We're green! Adjust your TV!" And Grouchy turns a knob and his skin turns green. That made me laugh a lot.

Apparently, there's some annoying new trend where Europe gets the cartoons first, and about a year or 2 we'll probably see them. Took almost 2 years for Biker Mice From Mars to air in the US. Same thing's gonna happen with the new GArfield series. And of course, to this day, Gadget and the Gadgetinis (which really isn't bad, just misguided) hasn't aired in the US at all (which is why they need to make a true Jetix channel).
Yes, it does seem that countries like England, France, and Canada always get the new shows first. Also, Canada seems to show their new seasons of shows in August while we have to wait till September in the States. I once took a vacation to Canada and I discovered great shows that haven't been shown in the US yet, plus reruns of old favorites I haven't seen in years. And classic Simpsons and Muppets shows with no syndication cuts. I always thought Canada has a much better TV lineup than the US does.

I think they would love them to..but Disney and Nick seem to have this "Kids don't like older shows--->So we don't show them---> So they don't even know they were ever made---->but they won't like them anyway" thingie going on:stick_out_tongue:

You know, my 7 year old cousin for christmas last year got the Super Mario Bros 3 cartoon series on dvd and that came out in 1990, when I was only 9. So if he can watch those cartoons I watched around his age, anything can happen.

By the way, I have Ducktales and Darkwing Duck on dvd.

Disney should have made a Darkwing Duck movie for the big screen when the show was hot, hot, hot. Plot could have been about Negaduck breaking into F.O.W.L headquarters, wanting to eliminate the organization so he can take over St. Canard and the world for himself. And Negaduck battles Steelbeak, which Steelbeak loses big time and runs away. Darkwing Duck and Launchpad McQuack have to stop Negaduck. Also Negaduck figures out Darkwing Duck's secret identity and kidnaps Gosalyn.

They would have... they would have...

Problem is, Ducktales didn't so amazingly well at the box office, and they pretty much stopped all plans for Disney Afternoon movies, including a Chip and Dale one which was almost into production. Goofy Movie was a turning point. Though, I'm not sure how close the relation to that and Goof Troop (other than Max and PJ).

Then after a while they did make 1 Saturday morning movies as quasi-series finalies (though Doug and Recess continued after that. Teacher's Pet's film ended the series with Spot never wishing to become human again). I think they found the balance by making them winter vacation/Spring break films...

The problem is that a handful of kids don't like those shows and sadly, the networks based expectations upon that one set of kids.
I actually think that is a myth and that they showed them shows that they thought were like them but were actually poorly made and based their 'studies' on that . Because to many of those researchers it seems like they think all shows and episodes made within the same time are interchangeable :frown:

Here's something that I'd like to hear from you, pooh... apparently, one of the new shows they intend to air is one of the old Sonic Cartoons...
