I don't know why I'm talking about this. It's just too random to bring up. And I decided to post about it.

That being said, do you like the sponsor plugs that they have for Sesame Street? What sponsors do you miss?

I'll list my favorite.
  1. Earth's Best Organic. I really liked the music in this sponsor plug, and the fact that the kid was sliding down vines and playing the bongo drums, and I LOVED that trumpet riff halfway through the music. I always dreamed of going to that area of fun and organic vegetables. (Just like how I want to go to the Between the Lions library...) That being said, this is one of the best SS sponsor plugs.
  2. Discovery Zone. One of the first sponsor plugs on SS! And I love DZ. ARCADE GAMES! :fanatic:
  3. PNC Grow Up Great. This one is one of the current sponsors. And I like the music. Especially the first few beginning notes.
  4. Good Egg Project. I actually once thought this was a McDonald's sponsor plug. I'm wrong. I like how the egg was sent to different places, THEN BACK TO THE ORIGINAL GUY. How did that happen?
That was my list of my favorite SS sponsor plugs! Now it's your turn. What sponsor plugs do you like? And what sponsor plugs scared the **** out of you as a kid? (The Funky Chimes DO NOT count. SS was just getting down to the pub.)
I love DZ too.

What about the sponsor tag for Pfizer saying that the letter Z stands for zebra and Zithromax? Where's the angry letters for that one?

Also, anyone remember when Ford was a sponsor? Heck, they were even kind enough to provide a truck for Cookie Monster to eat.

Dude! Finally! A serious conversation.

Like I said, the outrage shouldn't have been McDonalds was a sponsor, but the fact that A) they needed more corporate sponsors to keep the show on the air and B) that the sponsors need to get something out of it, airing actual commercials before kid's programming. I mean, where were the parental groups when Lipton was selling their sodium rich soup powder before Clifford? If that didn't prove that Ralph Nader didn't have a shred of integrity, I don't know what did. They went after only McDonalds because they're the big evil corporation making kids fat. Not Spaghettio's airing an actual commercial saying how healthy it is, not a pharmaceutical company advertising medication that isn't for children... Mc...freakin...Donalds. The one that did the least amount of self shilling.

And I betchya each and every one of those parents that whined about it didn't bother creaking open their wallets to keep PBS kid's programming publicly funded. If they were so angry that Ronald McHitler was brainwashing their kids to shove Big Macs down their throats via Big Bird and Elmo, why didn't they bother to help SW and PBS out themselves? Hypocrites.

Beaches was pretty indirect in its advertising, as well. They showed families enjoying their vacation in the Bahamas, but didn't outright shill their resort.

Yeah, they did manage to obscure it a bit. Then again, it's not like a major amount of families are rushing out to buy Bahamas vacations anyway.

My complaint is that these tags are too long, and together take up about a minute of the show from the front and back ends. They have so many sponsors they actually have to mention a couple just by name. Don't see why they can't do that for all of them. 2 minutes of Sesame Street could fit a good Ernie and Bert segment in or something.

Here's the Pfizer sponsorship for those who are curious.

Personally, I'm glad they didn't make more of these. Imagine a Pfizer commercial with the letter V for Viagra!

That was just shameful. How did Nader completely overlook a pharmaceutical pushing drugs on a kid's show, but figuratively jump a million feet in the air and go super sayian when McDonalds was revealed to be a sponsor. And people voted for him! Granted, this happened after that, but still. next time someone says they "proudly voted for him," I'm shoving this in their face.
