A lot of John and George's songs were nasty and/or cynical:

It's no wonder in the Beatles parody The Rutles, the Lennon character is called Ron Nasty.
Lol, yeah! Don't know how I forgot that!

Well, I also noticed that pride is a recurring theme in a lot of John's songs. He writes about how different forms of pride got in the way of his relationships in several songs.

Yes It Is
I'm a Loser
Jealous Guy
You Can't Do That
Run For Your Life

Yeah, George, as I understand it, didn't like people imposing on him. Plus, he didn't like people underestimating him or putting him down (something that happened a lot unfortunately!)
