CHAPTER FOUR
When they arrived back at their office Snowthy had his report all printed out for them. "She's interacted with several other muppets mostly on classic television shows such as The Muppet Show and its short lived spin-off, Muppets Tonight," he explained. "She has been known to have abused many of them from time to time with karate. Some with justification for they were being impudent, but most times she did it on the flimsiest of excuses being bad-tempered and quick to jump to the wrong conclusions. Even some of the human guest stars of the shows were picked on by her. However none of them, human celebrity or fellow muppet alike, particular strike me as the type who would do such a thing out of a grudge personally."
Before Marty or Kendra could say anything the phone suddenly rang and Snowthy picked it up. As he listened and talked with the caller he made notes with a pen and notepad. "I see. Don't worry sir. We'll investigate this serious matter." Hanging up the phone he said to the other two, "That was a man who introduced himself as Jerome "Doc" Christianson. He says that last night somebody broke into his workshop next to his house and kidnapped his dog, Sprocket by name."
"Another dog kidnapping! Possibly related to the first! And Ziffel has given us our suspects!" cried Marty, throwing his arms up in the air. "Super Muppet has allegedly been instructing his right-hand Baba to steal these dogs."
"But we have no idea why as yet," Kendra added.
"Come on," Marty gestured. "Let's all go over to this Mr.Christianson's address and see if we can find some clues." And so the Detectives all climbed onto their bicycles and pedalled off to where "Doc" lived.
When they arrived "Doc" showed them the garage next to his house that he had converted into an old workshop a long while ago. He was very upset and trembled as he pointed to the basket lying empty where Sprocket always used to sleep every night.
"I can't understand why anybody would take my poor Sprocket. If anything has happened to him I'll go insane." The Detectives could see where the lock had been carefully picked on the door. The perpetrator had done a good job of quietly breaking and entering and he didn't leave any obvious signs of his presence.
Kendra said "If only there were something that could tell us what exactly happened and if it really was the same person who stole the other dog."
Just then they heard a small voice "Excuse me. But I saw what happened."
They all looked down and saw a tiny creature with red skin standing in a hole in one wall of the shed. "Oh it's Gobo Fraggle." cried "Doc". The Detectives all squatted down in front of Gobo.
Snowthy said "Did you really see what happened to Sprocket?"
"Yes I did." Gobo explained that last night he had decided to spend a little bit of time standing at the hole leading away from the world of Fraggle Rock into outer space because he had his brave Uncle Travelling Matt on his mind. He hadn't seen him for ages since his last visit back home from exploring outer space and was wondering when he would ever see him again. The next thing he knew he noticed the door suddenly swing quietly open and a strange man come creeping in with a muzzle and bag. He had been momentarily frozen with fear but when the man crept over to the basket where Sprocket was sleeping and bent down slipping the muzzle on him he realized what was happening and called out. But his warning was too late of course, and poor Sprocket was helplessly thrown into the bag and slung over the man's shoulder. The man appeared perplexed not knowing where the voice had come from, but he very quickly ran away.
Gobo hung his head shamefully. "I am so sorry I did not cry out to alert Sprocket sooner "Doc".
"That's okay Gobo." replied "Doc" sympathetically. "I understand how scared you must have been. I only hope that what you've said now will help these three Detectives rescue him."
"Well we still don't know for sure if it was Baba. But our best assumption for now is that it was him indeed." said Marty. "I think we can safely assume that Super wants his henchman to steal a collection of dogs. If we can set a trap somehow for Baba, then we can find out from him what exactly his boss is up to."
