This one was pretty popular but unfortunately, just died out after a while. It was cartoon featuring a woman looking like a witch telling 2 kids a story using the letter A. I'm sure someone can probably refrsh me on the whole dialogue, but it involved an Archer and an Ant. At the end, the lady asks the boys what the moral of the story was, and 1 of them said "Archer's who steal Ant's Apples get bitten on the Ankle. Prompting the other kid to say "what do you mean Ankle, he was bitten on the toe". Then the other kid says"yeah, but TOE doesn't begin with the letter A". Prompting the cartoon to end with the lady saying, "Good thinking, child"!

OK....I'll try to remember all of it the best as I can:*ahem* (hey..."AHEM" starts with "A" too! OK...sorry)
"A" is for "Apple"
and also for "Ant"
Who tries to climb up there,
But finds that he can't.
Ant: Darn it! I'm hungry!
" A" is for "Arrow"
That flies through the "Air"
And slices the "Apple"
While it's sitting there
"A" is for "Archer"
Who claims his reward
With the help of a bag,and a big silver sword
"A" is for "Ant" again
Chasing his foe
And finally biting him
On the big toe
(The archer jumps around yelling in pain)
Now "A" is for "Ant"
Racing off with the bag
Causing the Archer to say
"WHAT A DRAG!"

Wow! I remember those cartoons! Those were cool with the witch talking about the archer shooting his arrow, etc. I don't quite remember all of it that well. Good memory, Katzi!

It's funny how when the witch first asks the boys if they want to hear the "A" story, they got their own excuses.

Boy 1: "Well, I got a bus to catch!"
Boy 2: "And I gotta go feed my pet elephant!"

But after hearing the story, and asked what they thought, they both replied with a unanimous "GROOVY!!!!"

I remember the boys making excuses and then the witch ignoring them and saying, "Very well then, watch this.." and then proceeding with the a story. But I never did make out that the second boy said he had to feed his pet elephant! Pretty amusing line there. And as always fuzzygobo, the memory you and Sesame Mike have for these 70's skits, as well as the insighful additional commentary and knowledge you give is truly a marvel.
And your recollection of this skit, Kathy, is also very impressive. As I read it it's exactly how I recall it going too.
