Yep, it's made it to DVD. My guess is that they've waited to drum-up support for the new film they're making. I was initially upset that the first season is divided in half, but consider this DVD contains 18 episodes. That's unheard of for modern season of animated programs, much less twice that, so this makes sense. :wisdom:

There are two discs running 345 minutes and it includes a featurette, music video and supposedly an Easter special (not sure on that one). It's out today February 26, 2008. I am excited. I have missed this program very much. I just hope it holds up to my memories of it from the 80s. I haven't seen it since then!:embarrassed:

I used to watch it as a kid. I've not remembered it as well as others but will try to catch a few eps on the net and if i still like it, get the DVD. Thanks for telling us, i'd never have known.

I'm mixed on the idea of a movie. If it's the Smurfs we all know and love then of course, brilliant - but i don't think i'd like to see them chipmunk'd.

I posted on an earlier thread somewhere, the initial CGI Smurf stylings. And they look exactly like the iconic cartoon Smurfs everyone remembers. Even though it was just a wire frame and a test coloring, you could see they kept the spirit of the old designs in tact. Good thing too. If they made them look like little humans, it would have freaked me out.

You mean like that resident in Organ who is now permanently blue, only smaller? :insatiable: :super:

Yeah... thinking of the Scooby-Doo/Garfield/Chipmunk live action/cartoon blending hybridization. Something like that. I don't know why that was an issue, but I was afraid it would be.

You mean Cartoon All stars to the rescue?
no no... I meant making them look like how they'd appear in the real world. Sort of like what they did with the movie versions of what I mentioned.

Glad to see they didn't deviate from the original designs here.
