*Still waiting fer Youtube to load* -_- In the meantime...

I lub The Simpsons, I've watched 'um all my life. Definately one of if no THE best shows of all time. I don't enjoy their newer stuff as much as the classic Simpsons (early-mid 90s series is my fave), but that doesn't mean I still don't watch them, they're still great.
Man, it's such a fantastic show, I'm rather speechless (that's not an exaduration, either), it's just such a clever show. The characters, the gags, the references to pop-culture, and even though a lot of people'll dissagree with me here, I can't get enough of it, lol (just ask my dad ).

While I am a fan of the "classic" era, I never minded the "newer" eps. There's always something clever or funny, no matter what year a particular episode was made.

I don't have an HD TV--have a standard 27-inch set: I'm such a rebel--but last night's show did look fantastic. I can imagine what it looked like in HD. The Burns cameo was great.

I think I am too much of a "classic simpsons" fan to really enjoy anything new these days :smirk:

I just dont like that new computerized look and the Family Guy style writing...
Exactly. And the hubris of the writers is unbelievable. I love how they shove in artist and writers only they know or care about so they can have them say the same Simpsons catchphrases over and over. I miss the good old days when celebrity guest stars played characters, not themselves. I still love the show, though. But I miss the days of weird merchandise with Bart on it... you know, Acclaim's terrible video games, drink boxes made by some odd third party... T-shirts with Bart saying "Eat My Shorts" "Cowabunga" and other things he didn't really say on the show that much.

Of course, I haven't seen the Simpsons, Family Guy, King of the Hill or American Dad for 3 months cuz my smartaleck Fox affiliate decided to switch to digital 3 months before it was supposed to.

I remember first loving the Simpsons during the late 80's as cartoon shorts on the Tracey Ullman Show. Bart was still a brat and Homer seemed scary and vicious in those shorts. When the Simpsons got their own half hour series, the animation improved and they turned Homer into a lovable boob and gave him a funnier voice.

It was wild to see them from their crudely drawn 1 minute shorts days to HD animation, and the new opening was awesome. I'll have to record the quick scene to the house and slow it down to see which characters were standing there.

And as for my favorite characters. I like Homer, Bart, Ned Flanders, Barney, Lenny, Moe, Ralph Wiggum, Chief Wiggum, and that guy who always goes, "YEEEESSSSS?"

I too like the older Simpsons shows. I also like the fact when they had a celebrity, they did not play themselves but someone else, such as Dustin Hoffman playing a substitute for Lisa's class. Now when they get a famous somebody, they always play themselves.

And are they using the same writers they've had since the beginning of the show?

Personally, I think this show has lost a lot of steam with in the last 7 years or so.

Seriously, anyone remember those miserable NES Acclaim video games? How terrible they were... one game had the run button the same button as the jump button. How are you supposed to take a running jump that way? I really wished Konami took over the license. Their Simpsons arcade games were amazing. Sure, one of them was basically the same engine as the TMNT arcade games, but it was still a great way to waste 5-6 bucks and spend a half hour. And the Simpsons Bowling game is pretty cool too.

Universal Studios in Florida is supposed to have a Simpsons ride coming soon. I went there last year while it was still being built. But I did get to visit a live version of their famous Kwik-E-Mart. It was a store filled with Simpsons merchandise.
