Chapter Four

"We can't take this lying down," Scooter said. "The show must go on!"

"But what about Robin?" Kermit asked nervously.

"Just let the show go on. We'll handle it," Scooter reassured him.

With that, Kermit walked onstage to introduce the opening act, Rowlf playing piano singing.

Earth angel, earth angel
Will you be mine?
My darling dear
Love you all the time
I'm just a fool
A fool in love with you

Earth angel, earth angel
The one I adore
Love you forever and ever more
I'm just a fool
A fool in love with you
I fell for you and I knew
The vision of your love-loveliness
I hoped and I pray that someday
I'll be the vision of your hap-happiness

Earth angel, earth angel
Please be mine
My darling dear
Love you all the time
I'm just a fool
A fool in love with you
I fell for you and I knew
The vision of your loveliness
I hope and pray that someday
That I'll be the vision of your happiness

Earth angel, earth angel
Please be mine
My darling dear
Love you all the time
I'm just a fool
A fool in love with you

Bunsen, Beaker, Scooter, Delilah, Maggie, and I were all gathered into the small room. "With the new Muppet Labs communication headset, you will be able to converse with each other over long distances like so," Bunsen announced as he turned on a switch.

"Meep meep meep, meemo-meep!" Beaker spoke into the microphone. Several volts of electricity suddenly passed through his body. "Meeeeeeeeeep!"

"Beakie!" Delilah shrieked.

"You seriously want us to risk our lives like that?" Maggie was less than enthusiastic about the plan.

"Do you want to save Robin or not?" Bunsen asked.

"Well, if it's for Robin," Maggie said, still a bit hesitant, "then I guess it's worth it."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Maggie and I were in the building where the young amphibian was being held captive, and we tuned on our headsets.
"'Cause you're hot then you're cold.
You're yes then you're no.
You're in then you're out.
You're up then you're down."
"What in the world?" Maggie asked.
"They can hear me?" I heard Scooter's voice over the headset.
"Affirmative, Felix the Cat," Delilah told him, using our cartoon character code names.
"Was it always that crazy in the control room, Pink Panther?" I asked.
"We're Muppets. What do you expect? It's certainly not just drinking coffee and talking about the news," Delilah replied. After that she started giving instructions. "Scooby," she told Maggie, "you are in charge of finding Robin. Just follow our instructions. As for you, Shaggy," she spoke to me, "you'll be in charge of look-out, just in case anything happens." The plan must have worked because after a few minutes, Maggie returned with her little green friend.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The three of us returned just in time. Kermit had scheduled the Grease scene and Robin's solo to be the final two acts. Miss Piggy was singing and Gonzo was preparing to perform a stunt.

When the night falls down
I wait for you
And you come around
And the world's alive
With the sound of kids
On the street outside

When you walk into the room
You pull me close and we start to move
And we're spinning with the stars above
And you lift me up in a wave of love...

Ooh, baby, do you know what that's worth ?
Ooh heaven is a place on earth
They say in heaven love comes first
We'll make heaven a place on earth
Ooh heaven is a place on earth

When I feel alone
I reach for you
And you bring me home
When I'm lost at sea
I hear your voice
And it carries me

In this world we're just beginning
To understand the miracle of living
Baby I was afraid before
But I'm not afraid anymore

Ooh, baby, do you know what that's worth ?
Ooh heaven is a place on earth
They say in heaven love comes first
We'll make heaven a place on earth
Ooh heaven is a place on earth

Of course, Gonzo's stunt failed, but he was still able to perform the Grease number. After Robin finished his solo, which the audience absolutely adored, just as we predicted, we found out the big news. We finally had enough money to save the theater!

Yeah, that would be useful to remember if I ever need to cook for somebody. (Warning: If you ask Gelfling Girl to cook, you may end up with something less edible than The Swedish Chef's food. :hungry::eek:)
