Part 1

It seemed like a normal day, or at least, as normal as possible with the Muppets. "Aly, get the phone," Kermit called to me as we heard the shrill ringing.

"The Muppet Show backstage. How may I help you?"

"I'm the new owner of the theater. You Muppets have 72 hours to leave. Or else." The man at the other end of the phone conversation hung up, and I stood there, completely stilted after hearing what he said.

"Who was it?" Kermit asked.

"The new owner of the theater," I said still in shock. "He says we have only three days to leave."

Everyone who heard me started to panic, and the commotion caused the other Muppets to join in curiously trying to figure out what was going on.

"QUIET!" Kermit shouted after a while of the commotion. It had become a habit for us to naturally look at Janice at times like this, but with the situation as it was, even she couldn't think of anything completely uncalled for to say. "We need to do something to save the theater," Kermit spoke up.

"How about a museum for my fungus collection?" Everybody stared at Gonzo.

"What about an Electric Mayhem concert?" Delilah suggested, motioning towards the greatest band of all time.

"Are you sure we'll be able to do it on such short notice?" Janice asked skeptically.

"Trust me. You'll be fantabulous," Maggie said, and everybody agreed.

Maggie, Robin, Scooter, Beaker, Delilah, and I were busy hanging up posters for the concert. We divided into three groups to cover more area in less time; Maggie and Robin teamed up, Beaker and Delilah were together, and Scooter was with me. By the time we finished and joined the other Muppets at what was currently, and hopefully will always be, the Muppet Theater, the Electric Mayhem was rehearsing.

1 2, 1 2 3 4-
Give me more lovin' than I've ever had,
Make it all better when I'm feelin' sad,
Tell me that I'm special even when I know I'm not,
Make it feel good when I hurt so bad, Barely gettin' mad,
I'm so glad I found you; I love bein' around you.
You make it easy, it's easy as 1,2- 1,2,3,4
There's only 1 thing 2 do 3 words 4 you- (I love you) I love you
There's only 1 way 2 say those 3 words and that's what I'll do-(I love you)
I love you.
Give me more lovin' from the very start,
Piece me back together when I fall apart,
Tell me things you never even tell your closest friends-
Make it feel good when I hurt so bad, Best that I've had,
I'm so glad I found you, I love bein' around you.
You make it easy, it's easy as 1,2- 1,2,3,4
There's only 1 thing 2 do 3 words 4 you- (I love you) I love you
There's only 1 way 2 say those 3 words and that's what I'll do- (I love you)
I love you.
(I love you) I love you.
You make it easy, it's easy as 1,2- 1,2,3,4
There's only 1 thing 2 do 3 words 4 you- (I love you) I love you
There's only 1 way 2 say those 3 words and that's what I'll do- (I love you)
I love you.
(I love you) I love you
1, 2, 3, 4
(I love you) I love you

(I love you) I love you
There was no denying that they would be great.

It was that fateful day already. Scooter and I were in charge of selling tickets, so we would be the first to know. From where we were set up, we could somewhat hear the band singing.

Ohhh yeah! Whooo!
Everybody's lover, everybody's brother, I wanna be your lifetime friend.
Crazy as a rocket, nothin in my pocket, I keep it at the rainbow's end.
I never think of money, I think of milk 'n honey, grinnin like a cheshire cat.
I focus on the pleasure, somethin' I can treasure, can you picture that?
Can you picture that?
Let me take your picture, add it to the mixture, there it is I got you now!
Really nothin' to it, anyone can do it, it's easy and we all know how.
Now begins the changin', mental rearrangin', nothing's really where it's at,
Now the Eiffel Tower's holdin up a flower.
I gave it to a Texas cat!

Fact is there's nothin out there you can't do
Yeah, even Santa Claus believes in you.
Beat down the walls, begin, believe, behold, begat.
Be a better drummer, be an up and comer. Can you picture that?
CAN YOU PICTURE THAT?
All of us are winnin, pickin and a-grinnin, Lordy but I love to jam
Jelly-belly gigglin, dancin and a-wigglin, honey that's the way I am!
Lost my heart in Texas, Northern lights affect us, I keep it underneath my hat,
Aurora Borealis, shinin down on Dallas! Can you picture that?
Can you picture that?
Can you picture? You gotta see it in your mind!
Can you picture? You know it's quick and easy to find!
Can you picture? You don't have to buy a frame!
Can you picture? Can you picture that?
Can you picture that?

Use it if you need it
Don't forget to feed it!
Can you picture that?

Later that night, we were counting the money to see if we had enough to save the theater. With the expression on Scooter's face, we knew the bad news before he even told us.

Just on a side note, the next chapter is set 10 years later, just to avoid confusion.

Chapter 2

Maggie and I sat down at the computer reading e-mails. I searched through them finding one from Scooby-Doo and Shaggy which made me question what Maggie was doing in her spare time, a few from Scooter, whom we haven't seen since The Muppet Show but still managed to keep in touch with, and one final note from Delilah. I opened the e-mail excitedly.

Hi, Maggie and Aly. Remember me? I was your roommate at the Muppet Boarding House. I just wanted to tell you that the Electric Mayhem will be performing around that area, just in case you're interested.
I typed my response very quickly. Soon after I clicked send, I received another message containing all the details along with a warning, "This might not be what you're expecting." What did she mean by that?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"So what did you mean by 'This won't be what you expect?'" I asked Delilah as we were at the concert.
"Let's just say, desperate times call for desperate measures," she told me. Soon after entering the vast crowd of audience members, we were instantly recognized by Scooter, who had also figured out about the concert. It seemed that none of the four of us didn't seem to have changed that much over the years. Of course, we weren't still the young children we were back on The Muppet Show, but we still looked similar and had the same personalities.
The band suddenly went onstage to perform. Delilah was right; it was beyond our wildest thoughts, which is saying a lot considering that we were on a show where the pigs are divas, the bears tell jokes, and the dogs play piano and sing. If I didn't know any better, I would have thought that they hired a terrible punk rock band as an opening act. I could hardly recognize any of the band members except Animal, who looked punk rock enough already: Janice looked more like a Tim Burton character or like she belonged in the "Thriller" video rather than being a former actress for a family friendly show; Zoot resembled one of the members of the band KISS; Dr. teeth looked a bit like an evil version of the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland; Floyd was just freaky beyond all comparisons. The "music" was mostly just them screaming unintelligible words into a microphone. It mad me reminiscent of the days when e=we were on The Muppet Show.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After the concert, we got a chance to meet with our old friends again. Although their appearance changed much over the past years, their personalities remained untouched. "It's rully not our type of music, and, like, we rully miss being on The Muppet Show, but there doesn't seem to be much we can do about it now," Janice told us backstage as she removed a pair of fake vampire fangs from her teeth.

"Maybe there is..." Scooter said as he put his arm around me.

Thanks. If I had any cookies, I would give them to you. And Electric Mayhem is totally awesome! (even though I did get quite a few odd mental pictures of them while writing this chapter :big_grin::flirt::sing:)

Chapter Three

The next day, we were busy typing e-mails trying to contact our old co-stars. Many of them were just excited to hear from us as we were of them. They were all incredibly excited to try a second attempt at saving the theater. "Kermit just e-mailed me back. He thinks that this is a great idea," Scooter announced to us. I grabbed a notebook and scribbled a checklist of everybody we knew back then, and checked off the names of everybody who responded.

"Hey, does anybody understand what this means?" Maggie asked, calling us to check out an e-mail. It was from Robin and full of teenager chat acronyms that hardly anybody understood. I guess he wasn't quite the same young frog we remembered from 10 years ago.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We were all together once again;what a wonderful feeling! We began to brainstorm ideas until we finally decided on a concept. It would be a lot like an episode of The Muppet Show, but a bit different. "Uncle Kermit, could I sing a song for this event?" Robin asked. He looked much differently than before, a bit like a younger version of Kermit.
"Well, sure, Robin," Kermit told him. "What song do you plan on singing?"
"Well, I was thinking, maybe," Robin said, motioning towards Janice, who began to play the intro to the classic Muppet song on her acoustic guitar as Robin began to sing:
Why are there so many songs about rainbows,
And what's on the other side?
Rainbows are visions, but only illusions,
And rainbows have nothing to hide.
So we've been told, and some choose to believe it.
I know they're wrong, wait and see.
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection:
The lovers, the dreamers, and me.
Who said that every wish
Would be heard and answered
When wished on the morning star?
Somebody thought of that, and someone believed it;
Look what it's done so far.
What's so amazing that keeps us stargazing,
And what do we think we might see?
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection:
The lovers, the dreamers, and me.
All of us under it's spell,
We know that it's probably magic.
Have you been half asleep,
And have you heard voices?
I've heard the calling my name.
Is this the sweet sound that calls the young sailors?
The voice might be one and the same.
I've heard it to many times to ignore it;
It's something that I'm supposed to be.
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection:
The lovers, the dreamers, and me.
It was so beautiful, there wasn't a dry eye in the room. There was no was the audience wouldn't love it. "Okay, so we have Robin singing, then Fozzie's comedy act, then maybe Delilah and Beaker could perform," Kermit said, writing it all down in a small notebook.
"What should we sing?" Delilah asked.
"How about 'The Chicken Dance'?" Gonzo suggested.
"Bwack," Camilla replied.
"Everything is about chickens with you," Maggie said.
"How about we re-enact that scene from Grease?" I suggested. The Electric Mayhem began to play the song as we all sang.
Meep meep meep meep meep meep meep meep
Summer lovin' happened so fast
Meep meep meep meemo meep meep
Met a boy, cute as can be
Summer days, driftin' away, to uh-oh those summer nights
Bork bork bork. Bork bork bork.
Did you get very far?
Tell moi more, tell moi more.
Like does he have a car?
Meep meep meep meep. Meep meep meep meep.
He ran by me, got my suit damp.
Meep meep meep meep. Meep meep meep meep.
He showed off, splashin' around.
Summer sun, something's begun, but uh-oh those summer nights.
Tell moi more, tell moi more.
Was it love at first sight?
Bork bork bork. Bork bork bork.
Did she put up a fight?
Meep meep meemo meep meep meep meep.
We went strollin', drank lemonade.
Meep meep meep meep meep meep meep.
We stayed out 'til ten o'clock.
Summer fling don't mean a thing, but uh-oh those summer nights.
Bork bork bork. Bork bork bork.
But you don't gotta brag.
Tell moi more, tell moi more.
'Cuz he sounds like a drag.
He got friendly holding my hand.
Meep meep meep meep meep meep meep meep meeeeeep.
He was sweet, just turned eighteen.
Meep meep meep meep. Meep meep meep meep meep.
Summer heat, boy and girl meet, but uh-oh those summer nights.
Tell moi more, tell moi more.
How much dough did he spend?
Bork bork bork, bork bork bork.
Could she get me a friend?
It turned colder, that's where it ends.
Meep meep meep meep meep meep meep meep.
Then we made our true love vows.
Meep meep meep meep meep meep meep.
Summer dreams ripped at the seams, but, oh, those summer nights.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Before we knew it, it was time to put on the show, but something was wrong. We found a note lying on the stage where we would be performing.

I know what you're planning, and don't think you'll get the theater back, or you'll never see your precious Robin again.
