Well, Tommy, if you're going to correct that little tidbit of Sunny Friendly's bio, make it wholy correct. The host of the game show Squeal of Fortune was named Pat Playjacks and Velma Blank was his assistant. The whole thing was a parody of Wheel of Fortune. In truth, Sunny Friendly pestered about any of the human characters of Sesame Street he could find with silly little non-game shows. See, here's the thing. He always thought of himself as famous, when all he was popular and he wasn't even that. He popped up one time before Hiroshi (Jedde Wattanabi) and told him that Hiroshi was the newest contentastant in a game show. The object was to paint a picture of Sunny Friendly and then he'd be rewarded with a famous painting. Excited at the thought of the painting he'd get, Hiroshi started working and then ended up winning the same portrait he just finished. Another instance of Sunny Friendly's annoyance is in a Season 25 episode they showed on Noggin. Here, Sunny Friendly appeared before Gina and asked her to identify the word "HOT" from amongst a piece of pie, a chicken, and the Muppet word "HOT." Of course, Gina recognized the word immediately and when she did Sunny Friendly said that her prize were the Muppet chicken and the piece of pie. After that, he just left them alone and the word "HOT" got involved in a game of tag with Big Bird and Elmo and the Muppet word "OPEN."
But you can get a great example of Sunny Friendly's smarmy demeanor in the Sesame Street video The Alphabet Game, a game show hosted by the game master with various classic alphabet clips strewn throughout. I found my copy at Toys R' Us a long while ago. Don't know if they'd have it at your local TRU or if you'd have to go to www.ebay.com to get it. Hope this helps and have a good day.
I remember this episode in my 2002-2003 school year and it was shown on Noggin. BTW, it sure had lots of great segments like Guy Smiley hosting "Here Is Your Life", Kermit singing "On My Pond", the original version of "Dance Myself To Sleep" with Bert and Ernie, Biff and Sully sing "This Is My J", the Noo-nee-noo typewriter guy j-jump cartoon sketch, the sand animation that forms the capital J and a small j, Herry and John-John discuss about the letter Q, the 16 televisions cartoon skit, and the african mask numbers segment that counts up to 16. We know that Sonny Friendly makes his appearance of this episode. The episode number was #3186 and the sponsors are J, Q and 16.

I sure miss those shows from Season 25! Are they REALLY outdated?

Remember Scotter_101? He hasn't been here for ages, but he would probably remember the original airing of this show from Season 23.

And don't forget that great song "Elbows And Knees", which was in there too! It also had some rap group saying the alphabet while they were waiting on the bus.

ssetta, hate to ask you again, but...
Is the character's name correctly spelled "Sonny" or "Sunny" Friendly?
And what source gives the correct name spelling?
Thanks for the help and have a good night.

I think his name is really Sonny Friendly (NOT Sunny Friendly!).

Mikealan wasn't on the 'Thanks' page, because he hadn't provided us useful information yet, and because he sent us nasty emails. He is forgiven now as you can see on the 'Thanks' page.

About Sonny/Sunny: eBay is the only site wich names him Sunny, all the others name him Sonny. In Unpaved he is named Sonny too. So I presume it's Sonny.

Tommy, when you say that Unpaved lists the character as "Sonny" Friendly, are you refering to Sesame Street Unpaved the book?
If so, then please answer either affirmatively or negatively. Just want to make sure, and what better source than the one book that collects the major players from 30 seasons of the Street. Thanks for your help and have a good day.
