Bump!
What do you guys think of Metallicas new Album? I think it's an improvement over anything since Load. I like the title track and Confusion the most. Also, Ride The Lightning is their best album in my opinion. The title track, Fade to Black, For Whom The Bell Tolls, Fight Fire with Fire, Creeping Death, and The Call of Ktulu in particular.

It's definitely an improvement but it's still, well, um, crap. They've been on the wrong path far too long, it'll take a long time before they really get good again.

I agree that Ride The Lightning is their best album. "For Whom The Bell Tolls" is my personal favorite song by them. (I actually just got a Ride The Lightning T-shirt last week funnily enough.)

There's some debate to what would be the first Heavy Metal song ever. Some candidates:

Summertime Blues- Blue Cheer
Black Sabbath- Black Sabbath (from the album, Black Sabbath)
You Really Got Me- The Kinks
Born to be Wild- Steppenwolf (first mention)
Beck's Bolero- Jeff Beck

Don't forget "Helter Skelter" by The Beatles... that's my pick for the first metal song ever.
