Hey guys... Just thought I'd stop in to report... You know that ever since finding it this past summer, I've been a big listener, supporter, and somewhat contributor to Steve Swanson's Muppetcast podcasts. He's known round these parts as stephenjlizard. Well, two big announcements in his Christmas Eve special.
1 He has a photo and story from Erin "Muppet Newsgirl"Roll about the AIDS quilt panel for Richard. Very touching and heart-felt.
2 He also said to send him Richard Hunt stories or memories or audio material from the various Muppet productions for a tribute show coming in January.
So I thought the best place to let MC know and the ones who would jump at such a chance to do it right would be the RHLC.

So you have/know your assignment. Go and do King Henry proud!

Huh? Sign upfor what? To hear the individual episodes?
All you have to have is a Windows Media Player in your computer. Ifyou have that, just click on the "Icon for PodPress" after the info for each show and it'll immediately launch. At least that's how I listen to Muppetcast. If you ask Steve, he'll probably come up with other ways you can listen to the shows.

Not necessarily. You can probably contact him through the forum's mailer via his member profile page. But it's a good bet to send it to the Muppetcast addy if all else fails. After all, we know that the gofer has to get these to Steve with 15 seconds till podcast posting.

Ah, yes. Wilson, the amazing three-piece-suited human ping-pong ball.

Okay, just had a listen to part of the latest MuppetCast...and I admit that I was blushing a bit during the discussion of Richard's quilt. Sounded really great; I'll have to post a few comments.

We got season 2 of SNL today, and the first episode on the set was Lily Tomlin (with James Taylor as the musical guest). At the end, she and James and all the cast (and a bunch of audience members) were out on the floor doing the 'Antler Dance.' And among them were Jim and Jerry (with Ploobis and Scred, both sporting moose antlers), and at one point we spotted Frank. Didn't get a visual on Richard, but he must have been out there somewhere. Have to go back and watch it again.

I just listened to the podcast, it was so cool to hear about your quilt and the statement you gave! Hehe, I probably would have blushed too. But you should be proud.

Cool, yeah I only really like SNL in its first couple of seasons. Never liked the Will Farrell years (though he is occasionally funny). The most recent cast is pretty decent, but nothing compares to the original! It'll be interesting to see if you can spot Richard in that scene.

I agree - Wisss, to my ears, is mostly Janice with a faint hint of Scooter and Gunge.
It would have been fun to see how the performers were reacting to all this down in the pit. And I'll bet they got a charge out of playing somewhat devious characters - even if Michael O'Donoghue and the other writers hated them.

Wisss: Oh, no, they wouldn't let us on (the Muppet Show)! That's family entertainment!
Lily Tomlin: Well, are you guys family entertainment?
Scred: (Heck) yeah! (real h-word altered for obvious reasons)

I saw the other Lily Tomlin SNL appearance recently. First of all I have to say she is so hilarious and clever! It's the episode where she sings a duet with Scred ("I've Got you Babe" Hehe) and at the end, Scred surprises her with a Rose. Such a sweet, special moment! I recall Jerry mentioning his inspiration for this in an interview:

Question: Now, like with the skit with Lily, was that done on a side set, or could the audience see you?

Jerry: "No, they could see me. I dressed in black, and I think I had a hood on. You know, one of the things that made that so good was that I was very focused. I was studying Tai Chi at the time and I was very heavily into it. I went through as much of the form as I knew and meditated several times on the Saturday that we did that, and on the break my daughter came. Richard, my daughter and I went out to get a bite to eat, and as we were walking back we passed a florist. I went and bought a rose. I kept it hidden through the whole bit with Lily, and I gave it to her right at the very end, and it totally caught her off guard because we never rehearsed it… It was just totally spontaneous to her. Her voice caught… It was a very real moment. I thought it was one of my best performances of anything I’ve ever done, because I felt really focused."

Question: I thought Scred was one of your best character performances…

Jerry: "I always loved that character. I felt a great kinship with Scred..."
