I was just in that kind of mood today because I finally found the old Willie Wimple clips on youtube. I never saw them as a child. I heard the song a few times on MC Radio and thought it was catchy. But everyone here insisted they were terrifying.

...and yeah I have to admit...disturbing. If I was 4 years old seeing these sketches, I probably would have ran from the room, or at least burst into tears. I nearly did seeing it as an adult!

But, in a way, I'm glad I was affected by it. The video and song together really get a heart felt message across. It's so frightening because it shows such an extreme of what could happen. Sometimes you have to be brutal with the truth to get people to listen. I've always been disapointed that our urgency about the enviornment disapeared after the early 1990s. As though it was all just a fad.

So some of those commercials and TV shows like Captain Planet were corny and over dramatic. It's better than doing nothing at all.

So, :: even though that sketch was definitely scary, I'll save it to My Favorites on youtube. That's a big part of The Muppets' message, if you look beyond your fear, you might find something worth while.

I know, it's really depressing. It just seems like people just don't care anymore, sometimes.

I remember back during my senior year of high school, I tried setting up a recycling bin in the senior lounge, 'cause I saw how many plastic bottles and aluminum cans my classmates were throwing out, but the guys kept throwing trash in with the recycling. Finally, one of the snootier girls told me to get rid of the bin.

Just wanted to mention this: back in the early 90s, there was an excellent computer game series called EcoQuest, by Sierra On-Line. In the games (there were two), you would travel under the sea or in the rainforest, learn about pollution and endangered species, help out animals in trouble and do battle with poachers and stuff. Good times. One of the games, as I remember, came with a booklet describing ways kids could make their own difference in helping the environment.

I believe one virsion of that is from the electric company. And every time that show started I would be so scard out of ,y mind of the logo and that lady screaming "HAY YOU GUYS!!!!" That I would always cover my ears and run for my life to my bedroom and hide under the bed. I would be breathing so hard. it was so scary at the time. It's so wierd that it just doesn't bother me at all anymore.

Good for you! I'm sorry more people weren't interested, but you were absolutely right to try. Sometimes it may not seem like your effort is doing much, but think of how much worse it would be if everyone starting giving up. And EcoQuest sounds like a fun game. I should really start doing more research into environmental stuff.

And ilikemuppets, I've never seen the Electric Company, so I always just thought the "Hey you guys!" thing was from Goonies! lol And yeah, it's weird how some things you were terrified of no longer bother you. And then there are others you never get over!
