Hey, all! Ok I said I was taking a break from the forum for a few days. And I still am. But I couldn't let the day pass without sharing this with all of you.

Youtube has just posted a 1988 Sesame Street clip featuring Placido Flamingo developing a crush on Maria! And what's even better is I remember watching this episode as a kid.

I distinctly recall Placido singing to Maria in the street at night and everyone yelling at him (they used to do that a lot, to make it seem like a real inner city). And him saying, "But I am the great Placido Flamingo!" I thought I'd never see this again. This is back when the show was a lot sillier!

Note: Maria mentioning quaking is a reference to a different episode that I remember when Mumford made Maria quake like a duck.

::sigh:: Today's gonna be a good day.

(Well, I went away for one week and between the four of us we got over 1,000 digital pics so I guess I can't comment :stick_out_tongue: Where in England did you come, by the way?)
Five days in London, with side trips to York and Bath. Great fun.

Thank you so much for that! That was so awasome! It's funny because I remember when some muppet would be making some randon noise at night for whatever reason and the neighbors would be screaming and yelling at them to quite down. They could sound pretty nasty somtimes, LOL!

Yeah, can't wait to see the quilt, MN! I'm sure it's not too hard putting photos on the web (not that I know how to do it...but still...it can't be that hard!)

I'm glad everyone liked the clip! You know, yesterday it was the #94 Most Discussed Comedy clip on youtube!

This was the Sesame Street I remember watching every morning, right down to hearing the sponsors at the end. Oh, and I love the way Luis says Placido's name. I always like Luis, now that I think about it, hehe.

I was amazed at the lesson they were trying to teach in that episode. You can't force someone to love you if they don't want to. Seems like a very grown up concept; but I imagine it does pay off for kids later in life when they find themselves in similar situations.

(Haven't we all been stalked by a love sick, opera singing, amazingly egotistical, pink Flamingo?)

...oh wow I'm a Senior Member, I didn't even notice...yay!

That's rully true, heralde... a sad lesson, but a very good one as well.
