Heh, you'll get no disagreement from me! The Lord of the Rings is the greatest novel of the 20th century (and so far the 21st!)

Narnia and Potter are also awesome of course.

Thanks heralde. I wonder if Richard ever read Narnia and Lord of the Rings? What would he have thought of Harry Potter?

Good question, a lot of young people liked Lord of the Rings in the '60s and '70s. It would have been very appropriate to see Scooter with a copy (though he might have used it as an excuse to get out of Muppet Show duties, hehe). "Sorry Kermit, but I'm only up to page 93!"

Awesome. There's a bunch of other Harry Potter fans in the RHLC. (Speaking of which, did any of you see that post I posted on the "Muppet Recasts of Movies" thread with Harry Potter on it?)

I know - it is really interesting to speculate what the Muppet performers would have kept on their bookshelves and night tables back in the day.

I believe the topic came up right around the time the seventh Potter book came out - it seems to me that both Jim and Richard would have approved of the series, had they been around to read it. There's the humor, of course, and the magical elements - along with the deeply spiritual side.

i miss Richard, it's odd that i do, i never met him, and i didn't know anything about him till a few months ago, but i guess the shock of his death is new to me. when i was a kid [still today] i watched the old muppets, and from first sight i loved scooter, and all my life i wanted to meet scooter and the muppeteer and give them a hug. one day [say seven months ago now] my sister came downstairs and told me the muppeteer was Richard Hunt, and i was so happy i knew his name. the next day she told me he died and i nearly cried. even now i can't believe it, i always was told jim henson was dead, but i thought he only played Kermit, so Scooter was still fine...

its not so bad, though, now i look forevear to one day meeting him in the next life [fingers crossed there is one] and we can hang out. [and i'll FINALLY get to hug him and say how awesome he is XD]

Hi, Nekoshema, welcome to the RHLC, and to the forum - it looks as if you're new on the block.

Our sentiments exactly - none of us here in the thread got to meet Richard when he was alive - except for Amanda, since she's his niece and all that.
But yeah, Richard was the best friend we never met - and it is nice to think about how we're all going to meet up again in the next life.

After all, Richard himself said at Jim's memorial, "There is solace, and there is joy, to know that Jim has returned home for a little while...and that all of us are going to go back there someday."
