"And though the body sleeps the heart will never rest." Let's face it, Jim and Richard and the other dearly departed Muppet team members aren't going to let a little thing like being dead stop them from continuing to inspire people.

And about the family dynamics: It's like Jane Hunt said; the Muppet crew were (and are) extremely devoted to one another. I mean, they went on trips together, celebrated important events in each other's lives, goofed off and confided, just like any other family. And they were there when someone needed them...such as when Frank maintained his vigils at Richard's bedside.

Man, you know I wish I could have been taken on such a tour of the Muppet Show Workshop back in the day with a certain guide, hint hint. Still, if we couldn't have that, I think this thread's the next best thing, hehe. I'd like to think there's still some sort of intervention at work.

Oh, yeah, wouldn't you have wanted to be in the Muppet workshop when Richard came through with a group of kids following him? Full Pied Piper mode...and of course, the tour guide was having just as much fun as the tour group was.

I remember the chapter that detailed this kind of thing in "Of Muppets and Men:" Richard took the group of kids through the shop, performed Kermit, Janice, Rowlf ("My Bach is worse than my bite!"), Crazy Harry, Animal and Beaker for them...and he made Animal lunge at one of the adult chaperones. ("Animal like woman...")

Same here...it's a shame they didn't include any footage of Richard's backstage tours in any of the official documentaries.

According to Of Muppets and Men: "It is Richard's special gift that he can work with other people's characters, and summon them to life. His Kermit voice is a close approximation of Jim's, and the kids' belief in Kermit is total. After a bit they seem to forget that Richard is there."

And I loved it when he made Rowlf say, "Well, my Bach is worse than my bite!" And according to the book, all of the workshop staff groaned and jeered at that one. But wonder how it did vs. Jim's "he was the pillage idiot" joke.

Oh yeah and that was a good compliment, I mean that's what sets you apart as a performer, if you can summon up characters fully and completely, even when you haven't really trained for them. It's about understanding motivations and personality and making strong choices for the character.

Hehe sorry, I've been hearing that a lot in acting class lately.
