Wow, Erin, that was such a touching post...
exactly, not remembered as the man that was claimed by
AIDs but as him...

That little line has such a truth.
Sadly, people remember some talented artists/people
as "The one who died of drug overdose" or the like...

Christopher Reeves for example...
I talk about him and then some people
say "The one that was paralyzed?"

I cringe at that.

wow, you got me tearing up at that, Erin. Sorry I haven't really been up to snuff lately. Lot of different stuff niggling at my head ya know.

Well, went to traffic court today, and the lady wants to plead 'not guilty' and blame it on the Highway Department, claiming "the white lines were not painted properly" or some such nonsense. So, gotta go back in awhile for that mess of crap.

And she claimed she had dislocated her shoulder in the accident! ...we hugged each other, and she claims her shoulder was dislocated. (edit: not dislocated because of me, but because of the accident.)

I call BS on that, personally.

She isn't blaming me, she probably just wants to get her insurance lowered near to what it was before the accident; which I totally understand. But to claim her shoulder was dislocated and she had to pop it back into place...at the point when I hugged her, she would not have been able to claim "she was still in shock" over said accident, I would believe.

Also, I have a hematoma in my right breast; where that horrendous bruise was. Have to set up a diginostic mammograph for it. Never have had that done before, oh lovely.

And I've gotten another car. It's a 1998 Nissan Altima, gray-brown in color. I've saved a piece of Gracie's bumper so I can match color whenever I'm able to get it painted. Because as we love Richard, and Jim is everyone's personal hero (more then likely) my car will always and forever be KERMIT GREEN!

Edit'd: Erin you ziffel'd me! And I also love how the newsboy cap is tilted to the side, and he is SUCH a cutie!
I am sorry for your complications.
I hope things tone down a bit.
*Hugs*

You're not the only one who spilled some tears.
*Gets a tissue and passes her another one*

Of course...Richard is...*swoon*

Oh dear, court room dramas! Good luck with everything.

Those were very moving words, MN!

I do hesitate to post this because I don't entirely know if it's true. It's just one person's word. This message is from a regular person posting on Google groups in December 1992 (Wow, it was around that long ago? !). I do apologize beforehand if it's not accurate:

"When I heard the soundtrack for the "Muppets on Location" show at the Disney/MGM Studios in Florida, I noticed that Janice sounded kinda weird. I knew that it was Richard's performance, but Janice sounded a little more like
Scooter (Richard performed him too). What I mean is that it wasn't 100% Janice's voice. I asked a friend who worked on the soundtrack and he told me that Richard was "sick". The first illness that came to mind was AIDS, and unfortunately that was what Richard had. On November '91, he came to Florida for the opening of "Muppets on Location",
his health had deteriorated, had lost one eye, but he still had his easy-going, down-to-earth spirit(which Janice inherited)."

Now, that is very impressive.
Losing your health, yet you remain chipper.
If it is true, I am sorry for his continual suffering.
Though, I am very shocked at that.

Makes me wonder...

Oh dear...that is rather shocking.

I honestly don't know what to make of it. I mean, it is possible, in a person with a weakened immune system, for an eye infection to get really bad...but on the other hand, that person is claiming to repeat what someone else told him or her. Then again...it doesn't seem like something that someone would completely make up.

I don't know.

...Oh my.

Are they....maybe....well even if it's true they could've been nicer about it. Like "he had an eyepatch".

Well, I just had a chat with my mother the doctor, and she said it was quite likely. A large number of AIDS patients do in fact get eye infections, because their immune systems are much more vulnerable. It's one of the neurological side effects.

But as we've said time and time again, that doesn't change the fact that Richard had an immensely strong spirit, one that no disease could bring down. And I make a vote that we get back to talking about Richard (the Muppet performer, as opposed to the AIDS patient), ere this thread gets too depressing entirely.

For example: I went crawling through that groups thread you mentioned, heralde, and I found a mention of another Richard cameo. The poster said that he and Jerry Nelson were in TMM, at the very start of the El Sleezo Scene. If that's true...they would have been the two guys sitting at the table trying to arm-wrestle each other.

Hmm, the link doesn't seem to be working, Marianne.

Yes, Claudia...a great many fans happen to be fond of Richard's smile. Even if the photo editors at some magazines went in and airbrushed out the famous gap. (Some of us speculated that he'd had some kind of work done on it - but Amanda told us otherwise.)

It kinda annoys the people on the Tough Pigs forum whenever the conversation veers this way. Oh, well.
