Thats so true. So I did a really bad thing that day I tore up the write up slip, but I got caught doing that by anothe teacher because the some of the and told me never to do that. But he's not as mean as the teacher who through me in jail though my senior year, but it's such a long story (about a year and a half) that I just can't talk about it to much.

I mean some girls were picking on me, so I get in trouble for it, plus they claim they never did, so it get frustrated and yell, Thats because you lying, and the teacher called the school cop, and they put me in hand cuffs and too me away.

Anyway, have fun MBM!

And thats a beatiful saying KIki!
Oh yeah I think I was charged with public disturbance.

Definitely, I had a problem with a kid at school a long time ago. She was always trying to make me miserable. I didn't know what to do. Then one day, some other kids were picking on her. I decided to stick up for her. She was shocked and said "Thanks!" She never gave me a hard time again. We were actually on pleasant terms for the rest of school.

That's not what always happens, but sometimes it pays to take a chance. And either way, you'll feel better.
I mean, In two insidents where it was my turn to lead the line, and someone else decided it was there turn I've been shoved dow'n strirs head first into a radiator and I couldn't walk, and he told the teacher it was an acciden't even thoe he called me something reallt nasty before he did it. And the other time where I got a black eye, and had to sit out, so he got to be the leader anyway, even thow he already had a turn that week.

Ah...elementary school.

But I got over it.

Wow...and here I thought elementary school was rough.

Saw the AIDS quilt today, gang. However, they only brought in one block of eight panels...and it didn't contain any of Richard's patches. Oh, well.
But it wasn't a total loss; one of the campus church groups was running the display, and they had a canvas labyrinth mat laid out for people to walk on and reflect, and one of the seniors had a display board on AIDS in Africa. So I spent much of my late morning/early afternoon chatting and hanging around. There wasn't much of a turnout, though.
They just packed up for the day; I stuck around to help them fold up the quilt and pack it away. Yes, I actually got to touch the quilt.
It was all pretty cool...and hey, Richard's patches are all in the quilt site's database, so we can see them when we wish.

Sounds like it was a good experience. Of the panels you did see, did any make an impression?

Wow, thanks for the update MuppetNewsgirl. Sorry you didn't get to see Richard's patch, though, but yeah. We can always go to the website.

About that school thing, I spoke too soon. Today a stupid junior tried to get my friend up from his seat, and almost bodily removed him. As my friend put it, exaggeratedly, "It was a real Rosa Parks moment". He eventually gave up and left, but it sure left an impression. Tomorrow we're gonna sit in the same seat, just to smite him. Ha.

Well, it was really neat looking at all the personal details on the patches; one guy loved chocolate, another had traveled all over Europe and a third had Bible verses all over his patch. It really puts a human face on what, in other cases, would have been a list of statistics.

But on the other hand, it felt almost as if I was looking at an actual grave. So it was both really cool and a little eerie...I mean, if not for the AIDS virus, what would these guys have gone on to do in life?

That's a good description, the AIDS quilt makes the victims into people instead of numbers.

I wish they had a similar thing for cancer victims. But there are so many problems that need attention.

It is too bad that you didn't see any of Richard's patches there, but it's great that you got to see and touch the quilt, Erin. I guess it is a little eerie, but pretty amazing, too.

Great plan, MBM... that guy'll deserve that! ;D
