When you were a kid, when watching shows you liked, were there any episodes that you really liked, but it felt like the episode wasn't broadcast often, to the point that whenever you did see the episode, it felt like an event? Maybe the episode itself wasn't rare, or there was no reason for it to not be broadcast, but it just so happened that you never caught a broadcast (back when the internet wasn't common and it was harder to see advance schedules for reruns)? And if you managed to record the episode (before the episode started, not after it began), you were lucky?

Here's a listing of some such episodes, which I really liked but didn't see often, until they came to DVD/iTunes or I found online:
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - "Turtle Tracks", "Enter the Shredder", and "A Thing About Rats"
A few years ago I realized the fact that I didn't see the first season episodes often (I had Shreddered and Splintered on VHS, though, and don't remember "Hot-Rod Teenagers from Diminson X" from my childhood at all), and then read on other forums that these episodes weren't rebroadcast much. And yet they left an impact on me as great episodes (I haven't seen many post-season one episodes in years so I can't they they hold up as the greatest episodes).
  • Salute Your Shorts - "Michael Comes to Camp"
I really liked the first episode of Salute Your Shorts, but it seems this was hardly broadcast (I recently downloaded it on iTunes, and it's still great). I think I only watched it on TV two or three times (I also remember seeing an advertisement on Nick that this would be shown on the second day of the "Nick Mania" Salute Your Shorts marathon but had to miss it). There are other episodes I didn't see often, but this one felt like an event to me when it was broadcast. It's weird the show had a number of episodes I didn't see often, considering the small number of episodes (I think 22 or less), but I've read descriptions of a few episodes I don't remember at all.
  • Rugrats - "At the Movies", "Real or Robot", and "Spike vs. Fluffy"
These episodes from the first season I first saw before I got cable, but after I first saw them I wouldn't see them again for years (I wouldn't see Real or Robot again until after I got the internet and therefore could see schedules on Nickelodeon's website, though I knew this one was on VHS). I guess this wouldn't count as much, because after seeing them again it would become fairly common for me to see them broadcast. But when I first saw them I thought they were really great.

No one has posted here yet? Wow...

The episode of the Rugrats where they are superheroes. Its been way too long since I've seen it, and they barely ever showed it. For some reason I always thought it was cute how Chuckie was a skunk and the one with the most useless power, but was the one to beat Angelica.

The episode of Arthur where Slink and his crony (Toby I think?) get Buster to do all the dares. Or any episode with Slink where he has a speaking line. I think we have established I am a fan of Slink :stick_out_tongue:

Any episode of the Powerpuff Girls with the Gang Green Gang. Schoolhouse Rocked is probably my favorite GGG epsiode, but Bang for Your Buck is also pretty good. And now I can watch all the GGG episodes on my box set  By the way, Ace is MINE, and I'm not sharing him

Pretty much any holiday episode of any TV show.

I also seem to recall seeing the Buster-less episodes of Arthur (the episodes in which Buster was traveling with his dad, and only made occasional apperances, such as talking to Arthur on the phone). I especially remember rarely seeing the episode in which Muffy and the gang made cookies (featuring Binky's famous line, "banana!").

I can watch any episode except Nano of the North because that one skips on that defective disk. I never returned it, but then again, it wasn't an episode I was very fond of.

How the Cookie Crumbles....

You're Welcome.

I HATED Kid's WB's instances of reruns. You'll always see the same episode of something every time, but there was always ONE episode of everything they aired once.

There was a Men in Black episode where Jay poses as a Super Hero that I had to search for on line a decade later. And they didn't show the one where the king of the Worms was learning English enough for my tastes.

How about simply the older episodes in general? They spend more time playing the crappy newer episodes than the classic older episodes.

On the subject of Arthur, two that really stick out to me as ones they basically never show are "How the Cookie Crumbles/Sue Ellen's Little Sister," as mentioned above, and also "Night Fright/Arthur's TV Free Week"

I, too, rarely saw those episodes. Though I can't quite recall what "Night Fright" was about. Was that the one involving Binky's nightlight?

You know what one they never show, and they showed it once 2 or 3 weeks ago? The one where they bring home a snake and they couldn't tell if it was poisonous or just a garden snake.

Of course, I'm not particularly fond of that one, but it's better than seeing the *&^%$ Arsubia one for the 100000th time.
