I remember watching Sesame Street in the early 1990's and seeing a couple computer-generated short segments with the Pixar lamps from Luxo, Jr. (the film that preceded Disney's Toy Story 2 in theaters). I remember one with a cardboard box opening and another, smaller lamp popping out. I believe it had Maria's voice saying, "Surprise!" Does anybody know what year these were introduced on the show and which other ones they made?

We're they really in SS?

Wow, I wouldn't have believed that.

Yes, the Pixar lamps have appeared on SS. There's at least 3 I've seen:

*Surprise (small lamp in box scares big lamp)
*Up and Down (small lamp repeatedly jumps on a box
*Heavy and Light (small lamp pushes a beach ball and bowling ball)

According to the timeline from "The Street We Live On", they were created in 1990.

That little lamp became the mascot of Pixar. Usually, whenever you see a Pixar movie, you see that lamp jumping around and flattening out the I.
