Believe it or not,my very first time seeing The Pink Panther, was in a cartoon segment of Sesame Street. He was in a karate outfit demonstrating the letter K.However I've seen a lot of famous characters have guest appearances on Sesame Street over the years.Which makes the show all the more facsinating.I've seen Batman & Robin in another cartoon segment. In later years I also recall seeing C3PO & R2D2 visiting Big Bird. :zany:

Yeah, I loved the Pink Panther bits as well as a kid. Classic stuff. It's neat whenever they bridge a world like that. There was also a nice Beetle Bailey piece that you may recall.

Actually, there was a Superman animation bit on the actual pilot of Sesame Street shown for a week in the summer of 1969. So this is a concept Sesame Workshop wanted to do at the VERY beginning.

And now Palisades is creating Pink Panther action figures, and Fun 4 All the Sesame Street Action figures, and there's the Star Wars action figures...we can have TONS of fun recreating all these old sketches, eh?

Didn't know about the Beetle Baily deal, though.

hmmn....there is a copy of the 1st episode floating around that came from Sesame Workshop (I believe...anyway it's not from Noggin) and it doesn't have the Superman bit. Was that pilot different from the first episode then? Wonder why they would have dropped the Superman bit, since that would surely have been popular with a lot of kids.

I think Phil is referring to the Sesame Street test pilot, which were a series of 5 shows shown to the target audience. This would ultimately end up being different from the premiere episode of Nov 10, 1969 in a very important way. In the pilots, there were no Muppets like Big Bird and Oscar to reside on the street. Ernie and Bert were in skits, but didn't interact with the street.

Bits of that pilot were shown on the A&E Biography special in which Ernie is seen changing the channel of a TV, which was showing a Superman cartoon.

And BTW, Superman was in an "S" cartoon. It may not have been in Show #1, but it existed. Also there was Batman and Robin.

Yes, I am referring to the test pilot show shown during the summer of 1969 several months before the show officially began.

I completely forgot about the Pink Panther! One character I think we all remember being on the show, of course, was Jughead.
