The old Sesame, the new Sesame back to back

I thought I'd give everybody an upclose look at how much Sesame Street changed in one Season. I'm gonna let everyone watch both a clip of the old closing that was used from 1969-1992, and the new Calypso closing that was used from 1993-1998, also the old Barkley and the kids closing, and the new animated credits. This will give you a back to back look at how dramatically SS changed from 1992 to 1993. Enjoy!

Seeing as those two season were like one season apart from each other, there's really not much a difference in the show other then the music.

But I've never seen the closing with Cooking Monster holding the credits up, though.

I don't think much really changed in that one year besides the theme music (unless you count the studio moving from Manhattan to Queens). The big changes occured later in the 90s, and more slowly. Heck, I remember as late as 1997 there were still a few first-season Ernie and Bert clips in circulation.

The last time I ever saw a first season old Ernie and Bert sketch was in the 30th Season. It was that sketch from 1969 where Bert bet Ernie his dessert (cookies and ice cream) that he couldn't clean the entire apartment in 15 seconds. Ernie does it in fast motion and says "For Cookies and Ice Cream I'll do anything" The ironic thing about this episode is. They actually zoomed into Ernie and Bert's window during a street scene as to make it look like that sketch was going on during that same day, when Ernie and Bert were very obviously outdated looking. It was after this that they did away with the post 1980 Ernie and Bert sketches.

It's also especially surreal that they did the zooming in on the window thing. I don't remember ever seeing them do that, except in the first episode. As a kid, I never even knew that Ernie and Bert lived in the basement.

It seems like it was quite common during season 30 for street scenes to zoom into Ernie and Bert's apartment before an Ernie and Bert sketch was shown. I don't know how often this happened before season 30. Many times something would happen, and then the camera would zoom to the outside of the basement of the apartment, and then the street scene would fade to an Ernie and Bert sketch. There was also an episode from that season that featured Dance Myself to Sleep, and after the sketch was over, the sheep were seen carrying Bert and his bed outside on the street (causing a minor continuity problem, as the sketch took place at nighttime, while the following street scene took place during the daytime).
